Scheduled eventsinclude a gallery walk, exhibition opening reception, lecture, and sculpting demonstration with FeaturedArtist Michael Naranjo; a concert by Featured Entertainer Mary Kaye with special guest ScottThompson; the Southeastern Chuck Wagon Cook-Off; a home school gathering for students; finals ofthe Writing Through Art Literary Contest; live entertainment; cowboy church; children’s activities; and somuch more!The Gathering begins Thursday, March 10th at 4:30 pm as Featured Artist Michael Naranjo leads aGallery Walk through Michael Naranjo: The Artist Who Sees with His Hands in the TemporaryExhibition Gallery. This exhibition will feature more than 30 works, drawn from the Collection of Tia, fromthroughout Naranjo’s 45-year career. At 5:30 pm an exhibition opening reception will be held in theMuseum’s Atrium where attendees can meet Naranjo. Refreshments will be served from 5:30 pm to 7:00pm. Following the reception, Booth Museum Members and guests are invited to the Featured ArtistEvening Lecture to hear Naranjo share his story, from being raised in an artisan’s home, his War-timeexperiences, and how these moments helped develop his artistic career. Following his presentation,Naranjo will be available to sign the official poster of the 13th Annual Southeastern Cowboy Gatheringin the Booth Store. These activities are free for Booth Museum Members and included with generaladmission for not-yet members.Michael Naranjo grew up in a New Mexico pottery family and went to school to study sculpture, butservice in Vietnam threatened his dream. A grenade explosion took his eyesight and left his right handseverely wounded. Despite these limitations Naranjo has created well over 100 important works including MORE

Per the request of the artist and the Collection, Michael Naranjo: The Artist WhoSees with His Hands will allow visitors the opportunity to touch the sculptures…to see the pieces as theartist sees them.On Friday, March 11th from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm, the Booth Artists’ Guild presents a Featured ArtistSculpting Demonstration with Michael Naranjo in Bergman Theatre moderated by Booth MuseumExecutive Director Seth Hopkins. Widely regarded as one of the greatest contemporary Native Americansculptors, Naranjo will work a piece of clay into a masterwork, using his inner vision to guide his hands.Tickets are $20 for Booth Museum Members and $25 for not-yet-members. To register for the artistdemonstration call 770-387-3849.From 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Friday, March 11th, home school students are invited to enjoy an activity-packed afternoon at Booth Museum’s Home School Gathering. Explore the exhibit Michael Naranjo:The Artist Who Sees with His Hands just as the artist would. Touch the sculptures; feel the movementof the bronze; learn how Naranjo uses his intuition to create masterworks. Students will also be able toexplore Ansel Adams: Before & After and be challenged by a variety of photography related activities.Reservations are suggested. Cost is $5 per student and $3 plus tax per adult. Call 770-387-3849 toschedule your group of 10 or more students.Throughout the day on Saturday, March 12th there will be a variety of events for the entire family.Referred to as “the original food truck” by Georgia Eats, the Southeastern Chuck Wagon Cook-Off isthe largest competition east of the Mississippi River. Teams of cooks will prepare beans, meat, potatoes,bread and dessert just as they did during the cattle drives of the 1800s. Those interested are encouragedto purchase meal tickets in advance for $15 plus tax. Lunch will be served at High Noon. Inside theMuseum, the art will come to life with characters from the images available for interaction throughquestions and photographs. Other activities include Cowboy Church, finals of the Writing Through ArtLiterary Competition, Cowboy Poetry and Western music.On Saturday evening at 7:00 pm, join us for an evening of Western music with critically acclaimed andmultiple award winning singer-songwriter Mary Kaye. Renowned Western artist Maynard Dixon declared,\"The spirit of the West sings in every soul.\" Mary believes this and shares this spirit in every performanceas her music is rooted deeply in the Western landscape, just as her life.
