The 2017 Series kicks off at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 18 with TheHumor of Mark Twain.In 2009, Booth Museum expanded our footprint by adding an additional 40,000 square feet including aballroom to be used for rentals, special events and additional programming,” said Seth Hopkins, BoothMuseum executive director. “The following year we started the Summer Entertainment Series as aunique opportunity to experience the Booth.”Much like the critically acclaimed one-man stage show developed and performed by Hal Holbrook, BoothMuseum Director of Special Projects Jim Dunham will present humorous material used by Mark Twainduring his many speaking engagements around the world. This provides the audience an idea of what itmight have been like to attend one of Twain’s sold out lectures. Later in the evening, Dunham will stepout of character and discuss some of Twain’s real-life Western adventures and the books he created fromthese experiences.“It has been a rewarding experience over the years to see the support we have received for our SummerEntertainment Series,” said Dunham. “Year after year the entertainment and programming gets better andbatter. The food is always wonderful and the audience is even better.”Doors to the Booth Ballroom open at 6:00 pm for a delicious gourmet dinner prepared by the Booth Caféwith a cash bar. The dinner menu will feature salad, beef tips with rice, sautéed peppers and onions, rolls,banana pudding cake, and tea or water. Jim Dunham will take the stage at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $25 plustax for Booth Museum Members and $30 plus tax for not-yet-members.
