Pride Week Wtndy shoots an arrow out into the audtence. Huskies took care of business during the week of January 9- 16. The school really pulled together to show their pride. A few of the activities consisted of an assembly, a donkey basket- ball game, and a face mask con- test. Doris Taggart, public rela- tions director of Zion National Bank, entertained the student body with side-splitting humor. Windy, of Windy's Wonderful World of Wind also entertained at the assembly. This clown holds world records for making balloon structures. Windy announced to the students that he would build an \"H\" out of green and white balloons which would measure 15 x 30. Adventurers' The Provo R1ver Expedition Off1cers and Adv1sor Club What was so special about the first Saturday of each month? One group of students work on a class project. Focus Focus sponsored a blood drive for the Red Cross . \"Everyone has a right to an education, but that doesn't mean that everyone gets one,\" says Sue Lou be. \"Some students just can't perform 1n the pub- lic school atmosphere.\" So, to g1ve everyone their rights as a student, Sue Loube, whose major is math, Ryan Anderson, who majored 1n English and reading, Mike Flook, who majored m current events, are the heads of the Focus department. Their \"organized confusion\" as they call 1t, IS based on making learning fun . Some of the things that they did were brainstorm- ing for new ideas, rappmg at family sessions, and learning about Ameri- can law through mock trials. At Focus, students were taught about law, Eng- lish, math, and the sciences. One day a quarter they had an all day, free- choice group activ1ty. Students had to earn these activity privileges by good grades and attendance. Focus was directed to those who had a need for a more untraditional education at HHS. ADVISORS: Cal Evans, Sue Loube, and Mike Flook. Ryan Anderson replaced Cal when Cal went to the District Office. 121

Ham-Haw Hillcrest's Associated Men and Hillcrest's Associated Women, or Ham-Haw for short, were very active at HHS this past year. Being the only club in which all students are members, it is also the only one that is funded by the school. The main purpose of the club is to boost school spirit and during the '77-'78 year they did a great job. Their activities included selling Christmas Cards, supporting Sub-for- Santa, spearheading H-week, and sponsoring a stomp. All in all, they succeeded in their main objective ... to make this past year the best ever at Hillcrest High. Allen Arko, clown of the club! A new and somewhat unfamiliar personal1ty at Hillcrest, Victoria Bnnton, was crowned the new adv1sor of th1s year's Kings' Corners Club. This enthusiastic English teacher somehow became head honcho over the most raucous, fun-loving bunch ever to perform at a chess board . Formed last year, Kings' Corners was originally set up to reform the old Chess Club and mcorporate Bridge and Check- ers for its members. To say Chess Club reformed was an understatemen - overturned was more appropriate. No longer was he club solely made up of intel ectu al males con- stantly gr · at a chess piece. Early in the year, they offered the musical accompaniment, an important aspect in any musi- cal, to My Fair Lady, and per- formed exceptionally well. They also put together a special Christmas program for parents and children to promote more appreciation for Christmas. Later in the year, a contempo- rary concert was very effectively performed. The concert con - tained various displays of popu - lar music. Congratulations to the Orchestra for a job well done! 136
