We- k:we- ~&'C~--::t~ Everybody Joins in . .. Each club gives our school new ways to express ourselves. We have the opportu- nity to be creative, to record our high school memories, to perform and add culture, to learn to stand up and speak out, to become better homemakers, to entertain and travel, to act in plays and musicals, to be artistic, to be more aware of social issues, to speak foreign lan- guages, to learn business, to promote school spirit, to show pride for being a senior, to bring news to our school, to be an honored student, to learn about our government, to dance precisely, to ski, to be behind the stage, and to sing out loud. Trivia: Male cheerleaders haven't been at our school for twenty two years, last years Expressions Magazine ranked high in the NCTE state competition and The American Scholastic Press Association, The Russian Club is back, this year, and Drill team ranked second in military, the highest they have ever ranked in that category. Go Big Green Wrestling Two four six eight. no not eight! Cheerleaders ine. We have nine wrestling cheerleaders this year. The wrestlers really depend on the support of the cheerleaders, they help to keep the crowd alive. These girls worked very hard to learn the cheers. They practiced in the summer from 6:00 to 8:00a.m. two days a week. Although they don't have a cheerleading clas . that doesn't mean they don't have to practice. They stayed after school three days a week and practiced their little hearts out. And it was very crucial that they didn't miss a practice because it would mean they would not be allowed to cheer at the big tournament in Reno. They all went into cheerleading not knowing each other, but now they're all the best of friends. They go places and do things together all of the time. Lisa Lehman. Be A Pep-per The Pep Club was organized to give school spirit and moral support to all athletic teams . But this 1s not their only task . They also make banners, posters, and cheer at all of the games. They are very devoted to their cause. On every game day they show togetherness by wearing our school colors. A lot of us don't really appreciate what this club does . But we have to hand it to them . There is never a game day that goes by that we don't have banners to boost the sp1rit and posters to praise our teams. There are approximately sixty members in the Pep Club this year. And every one of them give their all to make our team feel supported . Because of their distracting roars to disturb an opponents concentration, their exciting screams for a score in our favor, you would not call them the silent minority . Many of you Huskies might not know these words and their meanings, but there is a small group at Hillcrest who know them by heart. That group is the Expressions Magazine Staff. The pieces that are used in the magazine are taken from the H.H.S. Writing Contest. Which are then judged by staffers themselves. Boy & Girl State Boy's and Girl's State is an activity sponsored by the American Legion on a national basis. Each state has a similar convention and the purpose is to give the participants a greater understanding of the government on state, county and city levels. It also gives them some practical leadership experience. The participants were chosen on the basis of a written application and an interview with the counselors. Uncomprised Excellence, Drill Team The Hillcrest drill Tearn is one of the best organizations at HHS. Countless hours of practice (not only 2 hours every morning, but also time in the afternoon almost every day), constituted the perfection and excellency of our Drill Team.
