Honor Society The National Honor Society at Jordan High School was one of over 20,000 .chapters of an outstanding national organization. Our 56 mem- bers were selected by a faculty committee from those students who have a cumulative grade point of 3.5 or better. Not only were these stu- dents committed to high scholarship. they also strived for outstanding character, service, and leadership. This vast assignment covered Superintendenteverything from approving educationalprograms to adopting the annual bud-get and setting district tax levies. Administrators Provide Atmosphere This was a year of change for the Jordon adminis- tration. Mr. Bob Sproul was previously at Hillcrest before taking the job of vice-principal. Mr. McCleary was appointed principal at the new West Jordon High School. Amid the district shuffle. the student- body was privileged to hove the administrative talents of Mr. McCleary, Mr. Evans, and Mr. Sproul. Hal Hole earned a scholarship to Utah State University in 1963-67. While at USU, Hole performed well enough to land a pro contract with the Houston Mavericks in the old American Basketball Associ- ation. He completed one season with Houston when his career was cut short by the draft. Once out of the service. Hole went bock to school and earned a masters degree in health science at Utah State. Hole wasn't really interested In coaching. He wonted to find a career In his field but there weren' t any openings at that time. He was then offered a coaching job at Jordon. and he took it. He has hod other job opportu- nities but coaching at Jordon suited him best. Hole has coached at Jordon for the post nine exciting years. He has produced nothing but solid contenders: including 1979 Region 7 co-championship team. Hole isn't sure how long he will continue coaching. but he says as long as he con hold his enthusiasm and benefit the players he will stay. Hole has profitted many people by being the person that he is. 109

Thisvcx::ational 2-hour block class is an executive training program forstudents interested In careers, full-time or part-time, in the businessoffice. The training received Is comparable to training offered by businessand technical colleges. The most moder11 up-to-date equipment isavailable on which students are trained. Training is not only for entrylevel clerical positions, but also for executive or administrative levelpositions. During the second semester, after the training is mostlycompleted, students are placed on jobs where they obtain that \"firstexperience\" so they will be prepared to enter the job market in agood paying position. Students interested in the program must make application throughthe business department. Four teacher references ore required witheach application. Students actually receive college training at thehigh school level. Very excellent jobs with high paying salaries areobtained directly out of high school for students completing thisprogram. 147
