The Holy Cross Home Science College, Thoothukudi for girls was department has a well-equipped library and subscribes to on-line established in 1975 and is administered by the Society of the Sisters magazines and journals. The department also offers certificate of the Cross of Chavanod, Madurai Province. It is affiliated to courses in French, German and Spanish and other employment- Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. It has been re- oriented certificate courses that are need based. Coaching classes for accredited with ‘B’ grade by NAAC. NET & SET are also conducted by the department. The college offers quality and affordable collegiate education that Programmes Offered by the Department of English combines knowledge and skills with personal ethics and social values. The institution is located well within the city and is safe and (i) B. A. English secure for girls and is easily accessible from all parts of the city and its suburbs. (ii) M. A. English The college offers a vibrant campus life with celebrations of various festivals and occasions, competitions, inter-collegiate programmes and activities. HOLY CROSS HOMESCIENCE COLLEGE, Dr.J.Ragu Antony ,Associate Professor of English ,Holy Cross THOOTHUKUDI Home Science College honoured the chief guest with a memento .First session was handled by Mrs.R.Bala Sarawathi, Assistant DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Professor of English, Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi. Her Lecture LITERARY SYNOD 2022 highlighted the Career Opportunities after B.A &M.A. Our students were motivated and bagged with lots of advice and Guidance. The Department of English organized a three-day Literary Synod for our students. To give a fresh start to the new academic Session 1(Career Opportunities after B.A &M.A- year, the Department of English organized the three-day Mrs.R.Bala Sarawathi) (9thFebruary -11thFebruary) programmee in a full swing. The Primary objective of the Literary Synod is to create an interest in literature and to involve them in language learning process. Day :1 As it’s a three day programmee, The Department of English has scheduled multiple sessions for a day. First day begun with prayer. Followed by the prayer Ms.G.Ramya of III B.A English addressed the gathering with her sweet words of welcome.

The second session was started after the Refreshment. Mrs. Session 2(Shades of Post Colonialism-Mrs.M.Sheyamala) M.Sheyamala ,Head and Assistant Professor of English, DAY 2 KamarajCollege,Thoothukudi handled the second session. She lectured on the topic Shades of Post Colonialism in Literature. Her The Second day of Literary Synod begun with the prayer. Lectured made the students to travel to the Postcolonial era. Ms.W.Deni Gracika of III B.A English welcomed the gathering Dr.I.Angeline Priya, Head of the department honored the chief guest with her warm words of Welcome. With a new aspiration the First Session was led by Fr.Peter, Assistant Professor, Don Bosco College of Arts and Science, Keela Eral. Fr.Peter stressed the Importance of

Communicational Skills and talked about Conversational Skills and enthusiasm of learning new vocabularies. K.SelvaKani of III B.A Etiquettes. Students were divided into groups and conversational proposed the vote of thanks. drills were made. Our student enthusiastically participated in the session. DAY 3 The third day begun with prayer and a formal welcome The second session begun with spirit of learning. Mr.T.Jude Livingston (Assistant Professor of English, Nazareth Margoschios address. The first session was led by Mr.A.Melwin ,Assistant College) addressed the gathering and grabbed the attention of Professor of English ,Don Bosco College of Arts and Science ,Keela students with his interactive session. He delivered the lecture on the Importance of Gamification in Language Learning. Students learned the Techniques of Language learning Process. With the spirit of learning new things, the third session was handover to Ms. Nevedha Liz Gloria.K, Assistant Professor of English, Nazareth Margoschios College. She delivered lecture on Word power made easy through Gaming. Her lecture highlighted the importance of vocabulary and Word Power in language learning process. Her session enlighten our students and stimulated the

The second session was led by Mrs.Maria Sahaya Sharmila ,Co-Ordinator and Assitant professor of English ,St.Mary`s College, Thoothukudi. Her Lecture hightlighted the Concept of Literature and Life. The third session was led by Mrs. Hermina Assitant Professor of English,St.Mary`s College,Thoothukudi.She brifely talked about Critical Thinking and Her Lecture stimuliated the students analytical power and taught students to approach a literary work in a new Perspective.
