Her hat is also olive green and pale yellow. Just as an experiment, I tried using this design with other The white cat was made slightly differently. colored cats and I’m very satisfied I embroidered the outline of her body with grey backstitch over one thread and she has blue cross-stitch eyes. Her hat is bright red, and the background colors are dark olive green, yellow and grey. The grey cat looks a little insipid next to the brighter colors, but on its own looks rather dainty, I think. I used shades of pastel green, yellow, lilac and pink, with tan eyes for contrast. The tortoiseshell cat is made up of brown, dark fawn, light fawn and white patches. I shaded them in first on an outline to make sure that they were balanced on the body. This variation was the hardest to choose other colors for, as the body colors merged with almost every other one I chose. In the end I used a harsh grass green for the bonnet lining and maroon for the trimming and flowers, with a bright yellow to finish. I outlined parts of the cat’s body with a darker fawn as the light color merged into the background. I altered the bonnet trim for a change. I like the Tabby cat best. It has brown and black stripes, which I also drew onto an outline before sewing. I used purple and sky blue for the bonnet, which has the same trim as the previous example, and bright grass green for the rest. DHM78 D O L L H O U S E M I N I A T U R E S
