The sash was painted in a mixof crimson red and blue for theshadows. I have seen a few referencesto the color of the lacing on the pelissebeing black, so I painted it usingvarious shades of black and gray. The black leather parts of thehelmet and boots were painted in amatt black undercoat, then washes ofblack mixed with acrylic gloss varnish. The gold braiding on the jacketwas painted using my usual method.I started with a dark brown and goldmix, built it up to the light with lighterochre and gold mixes, then finishedwith a pale yellow and gold. I includedgold because the real items had gold inthe braid. After the gold was finished,I went over the edges of the gold witha dark shade of the surrounding color(dark blue/dark red as appropriate)to give the lines better definition andcorrect any mistakes in the painting.
