Two classes for single foot figures werethe most popular this year, with the tablescovered in models. The single mountedfigure class, which caters for any scale model, was a display of the art, with large and small-scale figures as well as flat models. A class which has shown a revivalin recent years, in terms of numbers ofentries, is the “vignette” category for twoor three figures with a common theme. There are several manufacturers producingfigures and scenic bases specifically forthis. The entries in the class showed offthis side of the hobby well to visitors. A class which requires extra work bymodel builders is “groups and dioramas”because they have to include more figuresand scenery! This is often, then, a classdominated by tanks and figures mountedon the vehicle or by it to set the scene. To alleviate this, the BMSS has a separateclass for AFVs, soft skins and artillery, with or without crew.
