We are Jackie and June, best of friends, who happen to share a love of minis. We started in business about 10 years ago as “I Just Bought a Few Little Things,” covering small cardboard boxes with scrapbook paper, trimmings, and dollhouse wallpaper, as settings for little scenes filled with miniatures. Some were beautiful little room vignettes, some had themes like Hanukkah or the Red Sox, and many were just fun and silly. Almost all of them had a cat or a dog. They made people smile. No one else made them, so we figured that we had cornered 56

Fi- nally, I add finishing touches with accessories; hats, bags, parasols and jewelry which is another very fiddly business, but I think it’s worth it.” She also points out that, while inspiration for her costumes can come from both photo- graphs and paintings, she also works from memory, particu- larly when focussing on more contemporary designs. Creating dolls which take us on a visual journey through the splendor of the Georgian, Regency and Vic- torian eras, all the way up to Edwardian, the 1920s and contemporary, is there any single era which Georgina finds herself consistently drawn to? “I think that all depends on my mood at the time,” she concludes. “I love 18th century costumes though, it’s certainly the period I find most aestheti- cally pleasing.” It’s easy to see why.
