Common barriers to learning Self-Worth Feeling not good enough or having low levels of self-esteem and a lack of belief in your own potential may prevent you from reaching goals. Fear A major psychological barrier is fear. For example, people are afraid to leave their current job because they fear they don’t know what to expect and fear they won’t be accepted by staff in the new job. The Past You might want a job that involves speaking to groups of people. For example, you remember a time when you had to do a class presentation and it did not go well.
