The Helen Harder Foundation held its inaugural charity ball this past weekend, (on Saturday, 16 August 2014) at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West. Guests were graced by the presence of enthusiastic and compassionate host, Liezel van der Westhuizen, who set the tone for the evening with a disarming personal touch, as she is directly affected by breast cancer. (A very close friend was diagnosed with the disease some time ago). The special guest for the night was Elise Fernandez, who opened eyes to the life of a breast cancer survivor and gave hope through her positive way of thinking and upbeat attitude. The evening was a phenomenal success and the organisers wish to thank everyone involved – sponsors, donors and guests alike, for their generosity and positive energy. Hannes explained this is due tothe fire-master at their wood fire stove. If thefire is too hot it scorches the pizza basebefore it is cooked through; too cold and youend up with a soggy base and dried outtoppings. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of pizzason offer. The Hawaiian was a good gauge andstandard to measure their performance: verytasty and topping-rich!
