2 The Thistle October 2017 BOARD PRESIDENT JOHN WARDThings have been going quite well in the Membership Department and I would like to highlight a few key facts and share thanks to some key players who are making it happen. Our membership is growing. Not only are we replacing members we have lost, but we are adding to our totalmembership base. In fact, the Membership Committee is beginning to consider whether we are nearing apoint of capacity for golf memberships. That is pretty exciting especially regarding the fact that nationally, golf and country club memberships have been on the decline. It is also worth pointing out that many of our new members are young families who will provide a base fora whole new generation at CCR. Some are legacy members and still more are new to the area or coming tous from other clubs. While we have not yet compiled the data, there is no doubt that the average age of themembership is decreasing despite the fact that we all keep getting older!Perhaps the most rewarding aspect regarding our membership growth is the opportunity our membershipcommunity has to become acquainted with all of these wonderful new people and to make great newfriends. We all owe a thanks for all this growth to our Club Secretary, Jeff Mapstone and our Director of MemberServices, Patty Zambito. They both ensure that our prospective new member candidates move through theprocess smoothly. Our process remains quite rigorous, but thanks to Jeff and Patty, it is not a difficult one.The Membership Committee also deserves our appreciation as they have worked hard to ensure we continueto have the right policies and processes in place to maintain our Club’s standards, while making sure wecontinue to attract quality member candidates to the Club. Finally, I want to thank our new member sponsors. Ultimately, it is the sponsor who identifies someone to bea good fit with the Club and makes the important introductions necessary to move through the process. Byreaching out to people that would be a good fit with the CCR family and bringing them to our Club, they dous all a great service.THE MOMENTUM IS STRONG...we have a great Club which continues to grow and improve with the additionof wonderful new members!

This annual event brings together Club Managers from Buffalo and Rochester Unfortunately, the CCRfor a day of golf, food, camaraderie and most importantly, the opportunity to raise money team did not achievefor a good cause. On Monday, September 25th, we welcomed 20 area clubs to CCR, the the honor this year.largest turnout in the history of the event. The charity we chose to have benefit from themoney raised this year is Ronald McDonald House Charities, located here in Rochester,NY. Since 1990, the organization has been providing a supportive “home away fromhome” for families of children receiving health care in the Rochester community andsupporting related efforts that improve the health and well-being of children. I’m veryproud of our team and their efforts to roll out the red carpet for our guests that day. Iwould like to give an enormous amount of the credit to our own Clubhouse Manager,Amy Beardsley-Comerer. As co-chair for this year’s event, Amy was responsible for allfundraising efforts. As a result of her efforts and energy in planning a silent auction,50-50 raffle and opportunities to donate during the tournament, we helped raise $15,000for Ronald McDonald House Charities. We’re proud to say that this donation is one of themost generous our CMAA chapter has been able to provide as part of the Directors GolfClassic.CLUBHOUSE RENOVATIONS COMPLETEFinal renovations have taken place over the past month and this phase of our Clubhouse remodel iscomplete. The new carpeting, furniture and painting projects were a much needed update. We’repleased with the results and we hope you are too!1st Floor Before 1st Floor After Living Room After

This event is a major highlight ofour tournament schedule, serving not only as the Member Team Championship for our Club, but also as a valuablefundraising event for the Club’s Sam Urzetta Scholarship. Many of you knew Sam, but for those who didn’t, he was an incredibly humble man with a great love for people!Sam served here at CCR as our Golf Professional for 38 years.
