EDUTEL NEWSLETTER – APRIL 2016 2016 STARTED WITH A BANG!!!I think you will all agree that this is a most unusual year with so many things happening. Weare all affected by the economy, weather, politics and changes in the skills developmentlandscape.Just when most people thought they had all their skills training planned and were about tofinalise their PIVOTAL plan, extension was granted to 20 May (for wholesale & retailconstituents) and a rumour started that the mandatory grant will go back to 50%. It seems asif there is a lot being said about this topic on various skills development platforms but until weget an official notification from the SETA, nothing changes. For now its status quo.Change always comes with pain and that makes change so difficult to bear but they also say“no pain no gain”. 2016 also started with a bang at Edutel and we believe that all this works forthe better. We have already had a few highlights this year and we want to share these with you. “Edutel, your one-stop educational service provider”
Edutel Information & Capacitation sessionOn 11 March Edutel conducted a video conference in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. This was a first for Edutel and we believe the session was a great success. Many representatives from different large, medium, and small wholesale and retail companiesattended the session that focused on Recognition of Prior Learning. The acting CEO of the W&RSETA laid the foundation and focused on the importance of private providers with regards to realising the goals and objectives of the W&RSETA. It was clear that Private Providers are here to stay and the W&RSETA are serious about the long lasting relationship that Private Providers and the SETA have had over the years. The CEO also announced that the Management and Delivery grant will increase from the 2016/2017 PIVOTAL grant allocation.
Alicia Swanepoel of the Johannesburg Dream Center made an emotional appeal on thedelegates to get involved in the upliftment of the poor and previously disadvantaged. Thisis a registered NPC (PBO) and besides the fact that companies will be able to claimcontributions back from the receiver they will be able to earn points towards social developmentrequirements of BBBEE.You can contact Alicia at:Tel: 081-402-8576Website: www.johannesburgdreamcenter.orgEmail: [email protected] Ferreira conducted the session on RPL and delegates were very complimentaryabout the presentation and handouts.
