Newsletter Friday 3rd March 2023 Dear Parents, WelcDome back to the second half of Term 2. We have started with a fantastic range of activities linked to Book Week. We have had a fantastic response to our ‘Extreme Reading ‘ challenge. Thank you to all of you who have sent in photos of your children reading in weird and wonderful places. We also all enjoyed dressing up as our favourite book characters for our parade on World Book Day. There were some fantastic costumes and class themed approaches. In Secondary, the teachers also worked with their classes to create book themed doorways - there are some pictures below - can you guess the book? (I had the student handbook!) Thank you to Ms Irving for organising such a memorable and special curriculum event. While we celebrate Book Week each year, it is important to remember that reading is an important and enjoyable life skill that has such a positive impact on not just how we learn across the curriculum but on how we engage with the world and build strong positive relationships. Did you know that the most effective way to build a huge vocabulary is to read a wide range of books. Studies show that adults who don’t read have a 8000 word working vocabulary whereas avid readers have up to 240,000 words at their disposal. Here at Bloomsbury we believe that reading should be at the heart of all we do and continue to develop best practice to ensure that all students learn to read but also to enjoy reading and see it as a central part of their lives. Thank you to you for supporting this. This weekend includes a public holiday so have a happy and safe time with your family. Best wishes, Mr Calvert Keep in touch If you want to speak to our office staff https://www.bloomsbury.ac.th please contact the school office and we will be happy to help. Office Hours are 7:45am—4:45pm Monday to Friday and 9:00am—12 pm Saturday. If there is an emergency please leave a line message and someone will return your call. +66(0)74251255-6
