September 2018 ANSWERED PRAYERS 14-YEARS-OLD NICOLE ANDREI F. CABE IS A FOUNDATION BENEFICIARY. A new school year has just started, and Nicole Andrei Cabe is excited to get back to school in time for ID picture-taking. In the meantime, she has taken time off, visiting us in her school uniform to talk about her journey with St. Luke’s as a Foundation beneficiary. Nicole, 14, is the youngest of three. When she was struck with a high fever, her mom took her to a hospital in Manila, where they couldn’t afford to cover the expenses. A neighbor in their village had told Nicole’s mom about St. Luke’s Social Service department, and within the same afternoon, her mom went to St. Luke’s-Quezon City with all of Nicole’s papers. Nicole underwent a Cholecystectomy (surgical removal of the gall bladder) and post operatively was maintained on regular wound care and completion of medication. Since the family could only afford to shell out a little bit from their budget, they received funding assistance from the Foundation, and they are thankful that she is able to attend the school year in good health.02 S Y N E R G Y
