The Ghost refers to the Holy Spirit. Train is lead singer, Anthony Caruso’s nickname. After a near death experience in 2015 he started hearing songs in his sleep. Train knows he has a direct particular “track” –because He, in turn, wants the 308 Ghost Train to move their listeners with their music and the messages he brings to them. There is also a double meaning in the name. The visual of an actual train infers a moving vessel that is inclusive, in that it is large enough to have enough seats to accommodate anyone that wants to come aboard. 308 GHOST TRAIN’s music and messages are inclusive, with melodies and rhythms that are energetically infectious and with lyrics that promote unity, positivity, inspiration, spirituality, and patriotism.

www.writeawaymag.co.uksADLY BEAUTiFULThe ReplacementsThe Replacements were an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1979. Initially a punk rock band, they are one of the main pioneers of alternative rock. The band was composed The Replacements’ music was influenced by rock of the guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, guitarist Bob Stinson, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson and drummer Chris Mars for most of its existence. Following several acclaimed albums, including Let It such as the Ramones, the New York Dolls, the Be and Tim, Bob Stinson was kicked out of the band Buzzcocks, the Damned, and the Sex Pistols. Unlike in 1986, and Slim Dunlap joined as lead guitarist. Steve Foley replaced Mars in 1990. Towards the end of the band’s career, Westerberg exerted more control over the creative output. The group disbanded in 1991, with the members eventually pursuing various projects. A reunion was announced on October 3, 2012 The band is referred to by their nickname “The ‘Mats” by fans, which originated as a truncation of “The Placemats,” a mispronunciation of their name.artists such as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Faces, Big Star, Slade, Badfinger, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Bob Dylan as well as punk rock bands many of their underground contemporaries, the Replacements played “heart-on-the-sleeve” rock songs that combined Westerberg’s “raw-throated adolescent howl” with self-deprecating lyrics. The Replacements were a notoriously wayward live act, often performing under the influence of alcohol and playing fragments of covers instead of their own material.

www.writeawaymag.co.ukCRAWLing BACK TO YOU© Tom PettyI’m so tired of being tired/Sure as night will follow day/Most things I worry about/Never happen anyway.....Tom Petty aged as gracefully in his songwriting as any artist. Just look at the beauty and grace of songs like “The Best Of Everything” and the title track to “Wildflowers.” But this particular line, from my favorite Petty song of all time, shows the wisdom he gained with age. This is a philosophy and mantra for life. Many Petty fans consider the Wildflowers era to be “That’s one of my favorite verses that I ever wrote,” his peak moment as a songwriter. It was also the last time he produced hit singles (“You Wreck Me,” “You Don’t Know How It Feels,” and “It’s Good to Be King”) that were embraced by Top 40 radio and MTV. In the years after Wildflowers, the industry changed in dramatic ways and older artists like Petty had a near-impossible time landing new songs on the radio.Wildflowers songs were a key part of Petty’s live show with the Heartbreakers all the way until his final tour in 2017. Here’s an incredible performance of the Wildflowers gem “Crawling Back to You” from Chicago’s Vic Theater in 2003 that was taped for the PBS show Soundstage. The song contains one of Petty’s most beloved verses: “I’m so tired of being tired/Sure as night will follow day/Most things I worry about/Never happen anyway.”Petty revealed to author Paul Zollo in his book Conversations With Tom Petty. “‘Cause it just rings so true. My cousin gave me that line. She sent me a little book of phrases once. I opened that book, and just saw that phrase: ‘Most things I worry about never happen anyway.’”

www.writeawaymag.co.ukA CAsE OF YOU© Joni MitchellA Case of You is a song by Joni Mitchell, from her 1971 album Blue. Mitchell wrote “A Case of You” in or before 1970. As with many of the songs on her album Blue, her breakup with Graham Nash is often cited as the inspiration for it. It is also claimed that it is about Leonard Cohen. She performed the song at the Amchitka Greenpeace benefit concert in October 1970. She recorded the song in 1971, and it was released on the 1971 album Blue with Mitchell playing Appalachian dulcimer, accompanied by James Taylor on acoustic guitar, which was tuned to standard tuning, (EADGBE), although there are cover versions played in an open G tuning (DGDGBD).Mitchell’s earliest public performances of “A Case of You” contain six lines that had changed by the time Blue was recorded. The line “I am as constant as a northern star” is an allusion to Caesar’s “I am constant as the Northern Star” from the Shakespeare play Julius Caesar, while the quoted line “Love is touching souls” is inspired by the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke.“A Case of You” was also released as the B-side of “California”Like fellow Canadian Leonard Cohen, Mitchell is a true poet, one whose words can stand on their own apart from the music. The entire Blue album stands as one of the two greatest singer/songwriter albums of all time, next to Bob Dylan’s Blood On the Tracks. And any song from Blue should be required in any master class on songwriting. Not to mention though it’s easy now to take for granted the brilliance of “Both Sides Now” because we have lived with it for more than 50 years, that is one of those songs, like “Blowing In The Wind” and “Imagine” that we must remember someone still had to write it. Though it feels like it is now part of the universe, Mitchell still had to sit down and write it. So picking one Mitchell line or song might seem an impossible task, but if you look at all the artists that have covered “A Case Of You” it just shows what a perfect song this is and why I would argue it is the second best written song of all time.

www.writeawaymag.co.ukTHAT giRL COULD sing© Jackson BrowneThat Girl Could Sing is a hit single written and performed by Jackson Browne from his 1980 album Hold Out. The song peaked at #22 on the Bill-board Hot 100, charting for 13 weeks after its Sept. 20, 1980 debut. It was also released as a single in Ja-pan. “That Girl Could Sing” was the seventh-biggest hit single of Browne’s Top 40 career (beating 1976’s “Here Come Those Tears Again” by one position higher on the Billboard Hot 100)That last sentence of that first verse was praised by Kit Rachlis in his September 1980 review of the album, but he bemoaned “Talk about celestial bod-ies/And your angels on the wing.”The full title of the song is only sung by Browne once in the song, who then ends the song with a variation on it: “She wasn’t much good at saying goodbye — but “That girl was sane.Billboard Magazine” said that the song starts “with a haunting instrumental before his perceptive lyrics and vocals take charge” and that the melody builds in intensity over the course of the songIt had long been speculated to be about singer/song-writer Laura Nyro or pop singer Linda Ronstadt, but more likely was inspired by sometime-Browne back-up singer Valerie Carter. Fan website editor Russ Par-is stated on his site that he believed that “most fans seem to consider Carter the inspiration for the song” with Browne given a couple hints through the years “. After announcing Carter’s death during a concert on March 4, 2017, at Castle Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Kahului, Maui, Hawaii, Browne played the song in tribute to her. Finally on April 22, 2017 Jackson Browne formally attributed the song to Carter at a concert at the Cummings Theatre in Man-itoba, Canada stating “it’s a song I wrote about her, there was a time that I was just crazy about her.”

www.writeawaymag.co.uk“BEAUTiFUL BOY (DARLing BOY)”© John LennonBeautiful Boy (Darling Boy) is a song written and per-formed by John Lennon. It was released on the 1980 album Dou-ble Fantasy, the last album by Lennon and Ono released before develops into John passionately his death.Paul McCartney has stated this is one of his favourite songs com-posed by Lennon, and when he appeared on Desert Island Discs in 1982 included it as his favour-ite in his selection, as did Yoko Ono as the only John Lennon song in 2007.It was used as the B-side of “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” to promote the compilation album The John Lennon Collection in November 1982.The song was for Lennon’s son, Sean, his only child with Yoko Ono. It begins with John com-forting his son from what is presumably a nightmare and describing the love he has for his son and the joy Sean gave him.At the end of the song, John Lennon whispers, “Good night, Sean. See you in the morning. Bright and early.”The lyrics of “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)” contain the famous Allen Saunders 1957 Readers Digest quote “Life is what happens to you while you’re accessible, smart and moving. In busy making other plans”.From “In My Life” to “Love” and “God,” no songwriter ever captured the profound simplic-ity of life more eloquently and honestly than John Lennon. He is the master at taking the phrase everybody thinks, “Why didn’t I write that?” and actually bring-ing it to life. All of “Imagine” feels like a children’s tale almost, yet only Lennon thought to write “Imagine all the people living life in peace.” But that is the brilliance of Lennon, he makes the genius look so easy you feel like you could do it too. But there was only one John Lennon ever. And this “Watching The Wheels” line is profound, wise, philosophical, approachable, short it is everything that makes Lennon in the top five songwrit-ers of all time.
