My interest in radio started at a very young age. I was aboyt 12 when I really got interested in it. I had some friends growing up, whose Dad was a radio DJ in our town. He was on the air for years, and I always loved his voice. Back then it was the deep radio announcer voice that was very popular. Then in 1986, I moved to San Diego California. I looked into a broadcasting school called Columbia School Of Broadcasting. country artists, but also had Their motto was “ You’ll never know what you can do until you try.” A gentleman by the name of Burton Richardson was on their board of directors. He was the announcer for the Arsenio Hall show. He graded some of my work. I love to help people, and radio I grew up listening to 80’s music. On air personalities like Rick Dees on KIIS Los Angeles, Jay Thomas from KPWR Power 106. He also played Carla’s husband in Cheers. And of course Kasey Kassem from American Top 40. Those guys were stars in the business to me. I wanted to have a show, and maybe be famous like them one day. Well, My show is live from Branson life happened, and it wasn’t until 1999, while living in Oklahoma that I walked into a country radio station that I listened to in McAlester Oklahoma, that I got my first on air radio job. I asked them if they needed a radio DJ. The lady said, as a matter of fact we do. They hired me part time on the weekends at $5.25 an hour. It was never about the money, but about being on a 100,000 watt station heard in 22 counties that did it for me. I had a full time job as well at the time. I stayed there for a couple of years. Then life happened again. In 2012 I began looking for a way to start a radio station on the internet. I ran across a format called spreaker. It was very user friendly, and I was able to figure out how to do a live show, and even chat with the listeners, while on the air. I started playing 80’s music, and then later I played Country music, and still do to this day. I started doing the mainstream independent artists that would ask if I would play their music. I soon realized that the Indie Music was even better than what was and still is being put out by the major labels and artists that they sign. has been a great way to help new artist, with the same passion as me {to be heard} get on the radio. www.countrymusicexpress.co.uk} 56Mike Turner“Love Will Save the World” was one of the first songs we started work on after Taylor and I founded the label. Taylor had composed the musical portion, the flow of which almost immediately suggested the ‘love, love, love’ lyric to me, and we built out the lyric from there. To me, the central theme of the song is the reason behind why we had formed the label: the idea that ‘we the people’ have the power to end war if we come together with determination to do so. The spoken bridge, which to me is a callback to the classic “talking blues” style of folk song, drives this message home. I laid down a demo vocal track with the ‘high, low’ vocal arrangement, with the idea of the song being a male/female duet. Taylor shopped the song around to various artists signed to the label for quite a while, but we didn’t seem to hit on the right ‘voice’ until TaNayha recorded it, and she sounded terrific. The more we then listened to it, the more we began to think that my vocal demo could work as the ‘low’ track, and with Taylor’s work in the mixing room, voila, we had the finished track. Taylor SappeThis was one of those songs where the music was created first and the lyrics were added afterwards. Getting the initial music composed was the easy part, but as we got deeper into the production some complexities arose. At one point we decided to get a rapper to do the spoken word part, so I changed that part to sound like modern trap. Although I was in contact with several rappers it seemed that none of them wanted to record something that was written by anyone other than themselves.I changed the spoken word section back to match the style of the song and after we had recorded TaNayah’s vocal I suggested to Mike that we use his baritone voice to do something on the order of “Big Bad John” from the 60s for the spoken word section. It worked.TaNayhaI was inspired to record this song because it sends a powerful but simple message that if we will choose love instead of hate, peace instead of war we can save the world just by coming together and loving each other!! A truly amazing message and I also really loved it for the bluesy style , as it was a great fit for my voice and I was really excited to help with this projectto get it out there and finally recorded for Mike and Taylor. Looking forward to many more like this one! www.countrymusicexpress.co.ukLove...Probably the strongest emotion we possess is love. It defines who we are as humans and provides the foundation for everything that we do. It’s power can blow us away, it’s very in-fectious and no matter how much of it we give away we always have it in abundance. It is our greatest possession, the greatest gift we have been given and the best present we can give each other. Soldiering is not thought of as an occupation connected to love but I found a passage in the Bible that threw that notion out of the window for me but at the same time captured the very essence of a soldier. “Greater love has no-one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).When I read this two thoughts come to mind. Firstly, the love that servicemen have in their hearts that not only are they willing to lay down their lives for their friends but also for people they do not know. That is some powerful love. Secondly, I got to thinking about Jesus giving up his life in such a horrific way just so our wrong doings could be forgiven. Now Jesusknew what needed to be done when he was condemned, he knew that he was going to die in total agony. He had chance after chance to get himself off the hook during his trial yet be-cause of the love that filled his heart he chose to die to save us all. He took all of the sins that we commit, have committed and will commit to the cross with him and bore the pain so we wouldn’t have to. To me, Jesus is the ultimate soldier and the greatest of heroes. Also imagine how God’s heart was breaking when he witnessed all of this. Of course, this had to happen to save us all but why would he go to the extreme of seeing his only son suffer so much for the sake of others. Because he loves us so much, that’s why. He loves us so much that he gives us this unending supply of love to give to each other. He wants us to spread it around and give it away freely. It truly is the most precious gift we have. But because it is so precious we must protect it and ensure thatit never dies. We must protect it like a soldier protects his medals. After all, love is the reward for our battle against sin won for us by the ultimate soldier.} 62
