Jaden and Ethan the Polar Bear



One upon a time, there was a kid named Jaden who lived in a civilized world where animals and humans would talk with each other. Jaden was nervous to transfer in a new school because he was scared that he won’t make any friends.

It was the first day and Jaden met his first friend, Ethan Jones, the polar bear. Ethan was really nice to Jaden and they were friends from that day, onwards. They would always hangout after school and bond with each other. Jaden lives in New York where the school is, while Ethan lives in the Arctic part of the world. Ethan and his family stayed on an apartment in the city so that they would be near the school. Ethan told Jaden that after their school ends, they would return back to their home, so both of them cherished each moment they still had with each other.

“Hey Ethan, since you will go back to the arctic, want to call each other?” Jaden asked. “Of course!” Ethan replied. They then took each other’s phone number and saved it on their phones. “There we go! Now I’ll always be with you even though we're far away” Ethan said happily.

Couple of months have passed and school is over, Ethan and his family had to go back to their hometown. Both Jaden and Ethan met each other one last time and had their farewells. As this was happening, air pollution and the emission of greenhouse gases were occurring in different parts of the world. If this keeps on continuing, those harmful gases would trap heat on the ozone layer which would cause temperatures to rise. When the earth starts to get warmer, the ice in places with cold climates would start to melt due to the temperature getting warm, this is called Global warming.

Since the Artic is mostly covered with ice, it will affect Ethan and his family. Though it is an important issue, only few people seem to care while the others just move to their daily lives. Ethan and his family arrived to their home safely, and everyday Jaden and Ethan would call each other on their phone.

Ethan’s mom, Ms. Jones was worried when there comes a time the ice starts melting. But Ethan never really knew what's the point of it. He told his mom that it's never going to happen and that it's not something she should worry about. Ethan doesn't think it's that important, because there's no damage that has been done.

Later on, there were reports that the ice started to melt in both the Arctic and the Antarctic in a worrying amount. This worried Ethan’s parents a lot while on the other hand, Ethan still doesn't care about it. \"What's wrong mom, it's just starting to melt? Isn't it normal for ice to melt?\" Ethan said. \"It's better to be safe than sorry, Ethan. We should learn to prepare for upcoming events even if it happens or not.\" Mrs. Jones replied.

Even though the ice is already melting, greenhouse gas emissions increased rapidly which made the situation worse. Ethan's parents tried their best to do their part on preventing global warming, but one family wasn't enough. It takes a lot of people to stop a big problem like this but sadly, not a lot of people knew how global warming would affect the Earth so just like Ethan, they didn't care and just laughed it off.

Ethan never really cared until, the Artic and the Antarctic’s ice started to melt but this time, most of the ice started melting. This affected Ethan’s family as their home was destroyed. Mr. and Mrs. Jones held tight to Ethan and his sister. The ice started to break apart and The Jones family were running to the rescue boat, but then Ethan’s sister slipped of the ice and fell on the ocean

The family tried to save her but she had already fallen deep in the ocean before they even got her grip. The captain on the boat said they should hop on, but they refuse, and told them to help her. The ice started breaking and the whole family was about to fall too, so they had no other choice but to get in the boat. Ethan cried begging the crew to save his sister, but It was too dangerous because they might drown too.

The family was devastated. Poor little Lily drowned on the ocean. Mr. and Mrs. Jones started to cry as the boat was sailing away. They thought to themselves that they could still save her, but the ocean currents could also wipe them out. Ethan's parents felt useless, they thought that it was their fault, but the situation couldn't be helped. At this point, Ethan learned why he should worry about global warming. It made him know that it's important to prevent problems like this.

The Jones family was rescued and they landed on New York, luckily Jaden’s family heard about the news and let them stayed in their house until they can fully recover from the tragedy. Ethan was really sad, he thought to himself that he could’ve saved his own sister from what happened but he failed to. Jaden cheered him and told him that it’s not his fault. Jaden’s family always comforted and helped the Jones family to recover.

Jaden and Ethan had a plan, they wanted to spread awareness about global warming, this time Ethan knows why they should stop global warming. They started to post posters on social media about avoiding the emission of harmful gases and how this can affect someone, just like what happened to the Jones family. It had caught up the mainstream media’s attention and they were able to interview Ethan’s family. The family taught ways on how you can stop global warming.

They finally had spoken about it and it gave more awareness. People started to lessen the emission of harmful gases like carbon monoxide by not using vehicles like motorcycles that emits a lot of carbon monoxide. Factories also tried to come up with a harmless way on producing their products. People even started planting trees because plants absorb carbon dioxide, one of the gases that are being emitted. The plants also release oxygen to the atmosphere which helps us breathe a fresher air.

With all of this going on, it lessened the harmful emissions and the melting of ice in colder regions started to stop. Jaden and Ethan were happy that people are doing something to stop global warming. Though you can't revive something from the past, it’s still important to put effort to not let the tragedy happen again. Global warming affects not only the Earth, but the creatures living in it as Earth is where we set our homes on.

The Jones family was able to recover and they found a home in New York and started with their normal day-to- day lives. It is a lesson learned for everyone to give importance to environmental problems like these. Jaden and Ethan went through the same school and they even made new friends. Ethan and his family are still sad to what happened, but it is what makes them move forward. From there, Ethan started to take care of the environment and take problems like global warming seriously.
