Clarendon School District One What would you do if you found a million dollars? A Million Dollars! If I found a million dollars I would not keep it. At first I would be excited, but I also know I can’t If I found a million dollars, I would keep keep the money. The main reason I cant keep the it because I would want to help my family money is because It belongs to someone who can pay the rent. When they need money I will not afford to lose it. I know if I lost that much be able to give them some of my money. money I would want it back. Another reason is If I did not keep the money I wouldn’t be because the person who lost the money worked helpful to my family. I would not want to hard for the money. I would turn in the money in be living on the streets if we ran out of hopes of getting a small token as a reward out of money like during the Great Depression. respect for having to return it. Maybe the person was going to start their own business or build By: Jasmine Johnson their dream house. Someone could have won that 4th Grade, Dr. Rose H. Wilder money and lost it. Elementary School Whoever lost the money is sad, crying, feeling lost and worried sick because they lost that much money. To lose any money is sad, especially when you have bills and things you want to do with that money. It could feed the homeless and build a home for them. As I stated before I would give the money back because it is a lot of money to lose. Someone may be worried sick and it is just not mine to keep. By: Unique Pearson 4th Grade, Dr. Rose H. Clarendon School District One MOST MEMORABLE VACATION LOST BUT RETURNED My most memorable vacation was the time O.M.G! I found a million dollars, but I am not going I went to Orlando, Florida. I traveled in a big to keep it! Why? Well, it is just stealing. I am going van with my family. The van had enough to do the right thing and return it to the owner. That room for me to stretch my legs out. The ride is what a nice person would do. I like to think of wasn’t too long. I remember being happy myself as a nice person. when we arrived at the big house we were staying at for the weekend. I found the owner and her name is Marisa. Her dad is a millionaire and he dropped it by mistake. My cousin and I stayed up all night. We I gave every dime back to her so she can give it to got everyday and played in the pool. Even her dad. What would you do if you found a million though there was a water park we couldn’t dollars? go because of the storm. We didn’t let a silly storm end our good time. We went Ryan Dickey back to the house and played. That Sunday 4th Grade we said our good byes and traveled back home. Briceson Singleton 4th Grade A VACATION TO REMEMBER My most memorable vacation was when I went to Universal Studios with my auntie, uncle, and cousin. It was the best time of my life! I had never been there before, so I was very excited about going and being there with my favorite people in the world. Today, I will be giving you three reasons why that vacation was my most memorable vacation The first reason was the E.T. Ride. It was so much fun. Second, the food was fantastic and” tasty,” and the third is the hotel stay was so awesome. My first reason why my vacation was so memorable was that when we got there the first thing, we wanted to get on is the E.T. Ride. As we were walking up to the ride my cousin and I looked at each other and smiled and said this is going to be fun.” The seat sat four people: two in the front and four in the back. We got on and started pedaling and boy were our legs sore. That was a lot of pedaling, but also very much fun. We really enjoyed ourselves. My second reason why my vacation was so memorable was the food was delicious and tasty. We ate some juicy corn on the cob, cheesy pizza, and that pizza was big, large slices too and we only ate the cheese one, and “OMG” the candy apples were so sweet, sticky, and amazing. My uncle was like are you guys full yet? We said, “no not until we have gotten everything we want.” My cousin and I looked at each other and laughed as we were eating our candy apples..... “umm, ummm, ummm” so good. My third and final reason was the hotel stay. The hotel was so big and had so much room in it. We were doing cartwheels, running back and forward because we were a little too hyper from those candy apples. I really liked the bathroom. When it was time to take a bath, I got in and did not want to get out. I was so relaxed. When I did get out of the bath, I was sleepy. My cousin and I had an awfully long adventurous day, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I told you my three reasons why Universal Studios is my most memorable vacation. I really enjoyed myself and my being with my favorite people that I oh ...so love the most. I would hope to hear about yours one day. Za’Kiya Livingston 4th Grade

Clarendon School District One AN ANGEL WAS BORN November 16, 2004, is the day a beautiful little girl arrived on Earth. That’s me. My parents always tell me that I looked like my grandfather when I was born. Of course, I was too young to remember. He died before I even turned one. Every time I see my Aunt Geraldine, she would remind me of how my skin was so light. I was so light that I was almost switched at birth with an actual white baby. My name tag was on the wrong baby and the doctors thought I was a boy. Crazy right! My Aunt Geraldine always says, “Them darn doctors almost gave you away to the wrong family.” She has told me this story about a thousand times. Sometimes, I get tired of hearing it. At first, I did not even believe it but when my parents showed me the family pictures, I was amazed. I looked like white chocolate compared to the rest of my family, but over the years, my skin has darkened beautifully. When I was two or three years old, I attended Paxville Head Start. My teachers were Mrs. Garris and Mrs. Angie. I loved them like they were my own family. I can remember my first day of school like it was yesterday; I cried like a baby. It was the first time I had been away from my mom, with people I did not know, and I was so scared and nervous to make new friends. As of matter of fact, I almost peed my pants that day. However, I did make two friends, Shidrea and Jasmyn. We would play together outside. The three of us loved playing on the tire swing. We would sit on the tire swing at the same time and have another kid push us. I had so much fun when I was at Paxville Head Start. I wish I could go back. Rosandra Bennett, 10th Grade SBHS

Clarendon School District One ROLLING BOULDER When I was much younger and naive, I did something that made my heart seem to explode. I said to myself, “I’m going to give it my best shot real quick!” I wanted to drive my dad’s old truck but didn’t know how yet, so I got inside. I did not know how to crank the truck so I just put it in gear. My mind said “ It should go if I just slide it in gear.”The bad thing was that I was on a hill so when I put it in neutral it rolled so fast down the hill. Once I was at bottom a tree stopped me, Bammm!!! At this point my heart was racing and just hoping nothing was broken. I got out of the truck and immediately looked to see if I did any damage. Luckily I didn’t leave a scratch. I was relieved because I was ten and had no funds. I knew I could not afford to fix anything on that truck. Once the truck hit the tree it made a loud echoing sound “Boommmmm!!!”My dad came outside to see what the issue was, he said “Boy what you just did to make all that noise just now”. I replied “I do not really know”. He looked and noticed the truck at the bottom of the hill. I turned my head quickly and said “It rolled down the hill with me inside”, but “there is nothing broken or scratched”. He said “Why didn’t you ask...I could show you”. So he got in the truck and he drove it in reverse back up the hill. We sat and cleaned up the dust and leaves off the truck while we had some snacks. Kanye McFadden 10th Grade, SBHS

Clarendon School District One THE DRAGON & SEAN CONYERS Once upon a time there was a worrior named Sean Conyers. Sean had a princess he wanted to show off for. The princess’s name was “Love Angel”. Sean decided he was going to save her from the dragon. Sean got ready for battle! He took ice cream and chicken with him so he could trick the dragon. His plan worked on the first try. Princess Love Angel gave him a kiss on the lips. “Thank you for saving our kingdom” she said. Sean Conyers and Princess “Love Angel” cooked the dragon. The whole kingdom had a plate. Everyone had good days forever in the kingdom. Sean Conyers, 5th Grade RWE

Clarendon School District One WHAT I WISH I COULD BE Listing all the things I wish I could be, would be never-ending. I could name my “practical” plan to become a successful dermatologist, have a ton of degrees, have a gorgeous super model husband or Micheal B. Jordan, (just kidding of course) have nice, respectful kids, and a huge house, but seriously we all know nothing ever really works out. See let me tell you how it will work out. I’ll get out of high school with this superb plan while having a fresh mind. I’ll start college, hopefully with a scholarship and start studying. This is where things start to go downhill. I get drowned with my college work not expecting it to be as bad as I thought it would be. Then I start to look like the garbage on the side of the street, my gorgeous, angelic super model boyfriend leaves me for a girl that looks like her life is together, I get depressed while watching my ex have little super model kids. I move back home with my mother, and before you know it, I’m saying “Welcome to McDonald’s, may I take your order?” I mean, of course, this is the worst-case scenario and what my mind goes to when I tell myself I need to work hard and study so that never happens, and maybe wait until after college to find my super model boyfriend. In all seriousness, that is my practical plan. Most parents tell their kids to reach for the stars, while mine told me to pick what I think might work out, but something I will truly enjoy. So, why not get the best of both worlds. Jamira Hickson, SBMHS

Clarendon School District One A DAY TO REMEMBER When I was about seven years old, I wanted to learn how to ride a bike. All the kids knew how to ride a bike, so I wanted to try. My cousins were picking at me because I didn’t know how to ride. Even my little cousin DJ knew how to ride one. One day I went outside and was ready to learn. My dad took the training wheels off the bike so I could start. I told my mom to come out and help me. I got on the bike and was ready. The first couple of tries I fell off the bike. On the fifth try I was so excited. I was screaming and cheesing the entire time. So, I rode the bike around the house and when I turned the curve, boom! I hit the pump house. I was on the ground crawling like a zombie in the walking dead. My mom picked me up and put me over her shoulder. My auntie came in the house laughing at me and I was so embarrassed. When I think about it now, I start to laugh at myself. Jimmy Weeks 10th Grade, SBMHS

Clarendon School District One What If Aliens Take Over Your School? If Aliens took over my school, I would be scared but I would work hard to help everyone to stay alive. First, I would make sure that everyone is safe. Then I would destroy all the aliens. I would use a reverse leaf blower so that it would suck in the aliens and keep them in the blower for a long time. The heat in the blower would make them become liquid. After that I would count all the students and teachers to make sure that the aliens did not capture any of them. After I am done counting everyone, then I would check the whole school to make sure that no aliens were hiding from me in any secret places. I would get other people to carry leaf blowers so that if I find any aliens hiding, we will continue to destroy them. I think that I would close the school for a few days and work hard to make sure that my school is safe once again and there are no aliens in the building. I would use my super-power watch to check all areas, to make sure all the aliens are dead before I reopen the school. Shaleecia Smart 4th Grade, RWE
