Plot March 7, 2021 brief-description of the story The play tells a story about a mother (Joselle) who had a work opportunity in Barcelona. With having a simple job in the Philippines, she was more determined to work abroad since the salary she will be going to receive is big enough in order to let her children finish their studies. Joselle faced the problem of leaving her family behind because her husband (Romy) was too busy with his work, Rosalie (Eldest Child) also failed to accomplish her duties and responsibilities of taking care of his little brother (Tonton), and Tonton is still on a journey from learning what are the right things to do and from what is wrong since he is still young and has a long way yet to go. Joselle had many struggles with her family and yet, she was still a very hardworking and loving mother. She didn’t want to be like her abusive mother so all throughout, she learned that being too harsh or abusive isn’t the right or proper parenting way since it is really not effective. Joselle taught her children in the end that they would try to communicate with each other more, and change themselves for the better of the family. She taught her children how to handle their responsibilities well. Joselle learned that what’s more important is that she is there for her family and she was close to them, rather than being far away from her family that is very dear to her. Rated : PG

Themes & Issues March 7, 2021 Important themes & Issues of the story The theme of the play \"Rated: PG\" teaches us how to rightly communicate with our family for us to reach peace and understanding. The issue shown in the story is about the different families that have failed in communicating well with each other, resulting in abuse and punishment to their children that is an unnecessary way for parents to teach their children discipline. We think that the director was trying to interpret that physical or verbal abuse is never the right or proper way of disciplining your children. There will never be a valid reason for abusing or being abused by someone despite, there are other effective ways you can do to teach your children. The director was also trying to convey that understanding your family and improving yourself for the better can make your family's relationship strong and better. The play interpreted the theme of the story well especially through their music. We learned a lot just by their singing and it really did catch our attention. Rated : PG

Performance Analysis March 7, 2021 The performance of the actors was excellent. We can tell that they are either professionals themselves or they have been practicing for the play as we didn’t notice any errors. They have been directed well as each move made by the actors is clean, not clustered at all. It wasn’t tense nor awkward, all scenes have been properly executed. The flow was very natural and the scenes were acted realistically, with emotions and all. They were truly in character and understood the character they were portraying as the character’s emotion was clearly shown. The actors showed it by adjusting the tone and intensity of their voices depending on the scene. Extra movement and gestures were done for the play to seem more authentic. For us, the mother and Tonton stood out the most. The mother showed complex emotions and her emotions seemed real. Every scene she did was flawless. The child who portrayed Tonton also stood out as he was young yet he is already good at performing. Pronunciation and delivery were on spot. They spoke clearly, without any errors. Every scene that was quite heavy, especially during the climax, was properly done. You can sense the emotions of the performers in each scene which was in our opinion, is captivating. Since emotions were properly shown and felt, we responded well with the scene being shown. During the part that the mother said that we shouldn’t do what their parents do during the days, We were very taken back by the scene. It wasn’t only the line itself that made us felt that way, but also the way she said it. Based on online reviews and the comments on the YouTube post of the play, others responded positively. They were amazed by the play given the message of it and the lessons we can pick up while watching it. We felt complex emotions throughout the story as many conflicts were shown (going abroad, disciplining children, and such).

Visual Elements March 7, 2021 Lighting, Sounds, Special Effects and Designs. The costumes portray the time period very well. Although it doesn’t portray their personality. It rather portrays their role in their current life, for example for the whole play Rosalie wore a school uniform and so did ton ton which mean that they are students in that time period and role in life. The choice of colors suit the theme and the place very well. The choice of colors wasn’t vibrant or bright to the point that it causes eye sore. They used good colors for the lights as well as their surroundings. Since this is an online play cameras are involved. The whole stage being completely shown in the camera in every angle is actually satisfactory. As for the use of space it was good as well. I can see that every actors and actresses is very comfortable with dancing and moving without showing signs of struggling. With the good use of space the whole casts of this play was enhanced they moved and dance freely from the start of the play from the very end. As I’ve said earlier the actors and actresses with the good use of space they moved freely without showing sign of any struggle. They also moved freely and every person in every scene is being seen or shown in every camera angle. In this play the director envision or shows the everyday lives of each person as the theme. With the use of props showing the setting in every scene that the actors are in is used very well. These props shows that where they are specifically in for example with using a fake wall designed as an high school building window can easily be determined that scene take place in a school. The design elements complimented the directors concept of the play very well. The design elements and props enhanced the play very good as well such as how they use these props creatively.

Visual Elements March 7, 2021 Lighting, Sounds, Special Effects and Designs. We applaud the staff/crew of the play maneuvering the cameras and lights as it compliments the overall theme of the play. The lighting were most of the time (when not singing) are just normal however, when they are about to sing the lights switched from white to a bright purple mixed with other colors that made it more more eye- catching. It was quite a move as it grabs one’s attention as many tend to be easily bored when watching plays. This makes sure that the audience’s attention is on them. You can easily distinguish whether it was day or night using the lights as during night they use a dark blue light, while during the day they use white light. The sound fits well with the scenes of the play and makes it more realistic. As a result, it improves the play more because of the \"realistic\" affect it has. Although there were sounds in the background, the character's voices can still be heard and understood well with or without earphones. The microphones were hidden well as we didn’t saw it when watching the play. As mentioned, since the sounds were realistic you can effortlessly tell apart the locations of each scene. The dialogue further helps differentiating the locations. Props were made for the audience to imagine the scenes as accurately as the writer imagines them. However, this limits the audience's imagination. They are not capable to freely imagine the scenes in their head. Overall, everything compliments each other.

Performer Evaluation March 7, 2021 choose two performers and evaluate their performance 1. Firstly, we have to give it to the performer of Joselle. All throughout the play she never failed to execute the right feelings and emotions to us, audiences. In every part that she did, it was very excellent as we felt the strong emotions of Joselle. Her singing is also one of the best from the performer, since she delivered it with feelings and in every song that she sang, she sang it with the right mood, with the right volume, and with the right tone. We learned a lot from Joselle because of her excellent acting in the play. She did her best to play the part of a hardworking mother and she did not fail to show her character’s personality. 2. Secondly, we will give it to Rosalie who played the eldest daughter of Joselle. Her performance, is very touching and excellent. What we very liked about her is how she showed her true emotions or feelings that her parents didn’t know of. She always felt like everyday she doesn’t have the freedom to do things on her own even though she is already capable of making her own decisions. In that scene that she did where she had a fight with her mother, was the best scene that she did because she really showed how her character felt and delivered strong emotions that the audiences really felt. Not just with the acting that we were astonished with, but also with her singing in her scenes. Her singing made the audiences more touched and it helped us more realize or know what Rosalie’s feelings are in the play. Joselle and Rosalie’s performance is without doubt, the best out of all the performers in the play which made us love the play and the story more.
