Performance task 1 CONTENTS:

In mathematics,an expression, rule or law that defines a relationship between one variable (independent variable) and another variable (dependent variable). Functions are ubiquitous in mathematics and are essential for formulating physical relationships in

Function is relation. Relation is a rule that relates values from a set of value (which is called the domain) for a second set of values (which is called the range) :Ex (X,Y) (1,4) 1 is the domain and 4 is the range

a relation from a set of inputs to a set of possible outputs where each input is related to exactly one output.

Whats a function and not function? A function is a relation between domain and range such that each value in the domain corresponds to only one value in the range. Relations that are not functions violate this definition. They feature at least one value in the domain that corresponds to two or more values in the range.

That means finding the value of f(X)= ... or y+... that corresponds to a given value of x. When we have a function in formula form, it is usually a simple matter to evaluate the function. For example, the function f(x)=5−3x2 f ( x ) = 5 − 3 x 2 can be evaluated by squaring the input value, multiplying by 3, and then subtracting the product
