THE IMPORTANCE OF ENGLISH IN MARITIME INDUSTRIES

IN MY OPINION BUDGET The importance of maritime English in the maritime industry

WHY IS MARITIME ENGLISH SO IMPORTANT IN THE MARITIME WORLD. 1. Because the entire crew consists of nationals the shipping industry is not bound to a particular 2. Majority of Marine Accidents Occur Due To Poor Communication country or region. It's international. Therefore, there were people from different nationalities in Majority of marine accidents occur due to human error and one can attribute one ship. Because English is a universal language; a large number of these marine accidents to poor communication. If a sailor this is the only way seafarers can communicate does not use standard Maritime English on board, miscommunication is effectively with each other. Therefore, learning to likely. This miscommunication could result in the life of another seafarer and use Maritime English correctly is very important; could even jeopardize the integrity of the ship. Therefore, it is very important especially for young intern to use standard Maritime English especially for those involved in operational situations.

3. Maritime English Was The Standard Language In the early days of the shipping industry, each country had its own language of communication which they recognized as the standard. As the shipping industry grew and one ship began to travel to different countries of the world, the language barrier created many barriers. Seeing this, Maritime English emerged and the same was adopted as the standard language for seafarers around the world. After the introduction of Maritime English, operational barriers, accidents and accidents were drastically reduced. 4. Be Prepared for an Emergency Please note that an emergency on board can arise at any time. Maybe fire or humans could overdo it. In such cases, it is important for a seafarer to provide an appropriate response. You will indeed be taught the steps to deal with an emergency, however, the same will be done in Maritime English. Therefore, if you are not proficient in Maritime English, you will not be able to respond effectively to emergencies resulting in accidents, accidents and even further tragedies.

overall, Maritime English is very important for a seafarer to communicate effectively while on board, therefore, all prospective seafarers should allow sufficient time to understand Maritime English and achieve fluency in the same. The same is true for all our seafarers in Indonesia. Lack of language skills makes us unable to compete with seafarers abroad who can speak English. Scientifically, we can compete with the outside world, but we are rarely looked at because of the limitations of the English language.

The importance of navigation and other competance

Competence is the ability of each individual which includes aspects of knowledge, skills, and attitudes in accordance with the standards set.Determining the Position with Electronic Navigation Tools is one of the competencies of the Navigation Competencies that must be possessed by every crew/prospective crew member, especially for crew from the deck section, both on duty on commercial ships and onfishing vessels. In particular, Determining Position with Electronic Navigation Devices is very important to be mastered by every crew member or prospective crew member for the benefit of shipping safety and maintaining the ship and allits contents, including people and their luggage during the voyage.

Navigation is a science that teaches howto find and take into account directions accurately, safely and efficiently by using the help of maps and other navigation tools, Navigation plays an important role in determining a voyage, because can help determine the desired direction so that the ship does not lost.a. PERSONAL PLAN AND AMBITIONS

For my future plans, because I am now sitting as a sea cadet and I am determined to graduate on time. The first and most important thing is according to my current reality, that is, I must be ablCeotnosumpaesrs the Seafaring Skills Exam first, with the target of taking a maximum of two seafarers' skills exams, because if it is more than two times, I think it will be a waste of time because waiting for The next Seafarer Skills Exam, but if I haven't passed the Sailor Skills Exam then I will take steps to practice on land, therefore targets and perseverance need to be applied tenaciously.

After that, I want to work on a cruise ship. But the more I think about it, the more I have to always try more and more, because in the maritime world, not only Indonesian language that is needed English is also important, considering I am a person who is not fluent in English, I I have to be more active in encouraging myself to learn English.

Knowledge, skills and language are very important for a successful career. Therefore, we as cadets of cadets must be ambitious in learning, thirst for knowledge and continue to hone our abilities both from science, skills and international language (English) to realize a goal which we have planned long ago.

There is a saying that the raft first, swim to the shore, get sick first, have fun, then Therefore, it is very important for seafarers to master maritime English. especially if you have aspirations to join a foreign company, which of course must be fully mastered in maritime English.
