Rtr. Malcolm Cardoza District Editor 2022-23 “Laakh Laakh roz aake bas jaate hai, Iss sheher se dil lagake phas jaate hai! Sone ki rahon me sone ko jagah nahi!... Shola hai ya hai bijuriya, Dil ki bajariya, Bambai Nagariya!” I’m sure we all have heard this iconic song, sung by the great Bappi Da, with such deep meaningful lyrics, and have thought to ourselves, “Wow, Mumbai truly is a wonderful yet dark place to reside sometimes!” Our great city of lights - a city that never sleeps, has provided livelihood, safety, hope and success to many, but, as all great cities do, a large section of Mumbai’s residents face unimaginable problems at times and have to navigate their lives through the worst of realms. In spite of such shortcomings, our city has never fallen short of heroes filled with compassion in their hearts, who have time and again proved that Mumbai is a city of Dreams as well as of Humanity! It is an intrinsic part of all Mumbaikars, to grow and flourish with one another, and support the community through the darkest of times. After having braced through a global pandemic and crippling lockdowns, it is now time for all of us to revisit our city’s glory and also honor its bravehearts who served the community through all odds. Through this bulletin, we would also be taking all of you down the memory lane of Bombay, as it was formerly known, and give you a chance to relive Bombay through all its highs & lows! But don’t worry, as you won’t be alone. You would be accompanied by our very own cheeky & bubbly Rotaract Rangers to guide you throughout, as they tour through the streets of Mumbai! So take a bite of your Babu Vadapav, and hop on the BEST bus, cause we are in for an exciting ride with this bulletin!! Woo-hoo!! 04
