Hudson Valley Dance Theatre Presents NUTCRACKER SHORT & SWEET An Hour Long Narrated Version of the Popular Holiday Classic Cornwall Central High School The Paramount Theater December 14, 2019 December 21, 2019 Music by P.I. Tchaikovsky Narration Written by Anastasia Edson Spoken by Beth Maurer Choreography by Ann Cerone, Anastasia Edson, Louisa Flannigan Aggie Kimple, Helen McLennan Founded in 1986, the Hudson Valley Dance Theatre provides a much-needed vehicle for the dance, choreographic, and related skills acquired by local children and area residents. The HVDT offers the organizational framework that can support and nurture a sense of community and cooperation to be gained among performers and audience alike through dance theatre productions such as The Magical Christmas and Nutcracker Short & Sweet. The HVDT is building a repertoire that includes ballet, character, folk, tap, Broadway-style jazz and dance drama. The HVDT is a not-for-profit corporation approved by the NYS Department of Education. The HVDT is supported solely by donations.

Godfather Drosselmeyer is a special guest who has brought his Mechanical Harlequin Dolls to entertain. He gives Clara a special gift, a Nutcracker doll. Fritz is jealous and breaks the Nutcracker, but Drosselmeyer mends the doll. Saturday December 14th - 2:00 P.M. Scene Two The guests have all left and Clara admires her new Nutcracker. Drosselmeyer’s magic makes the tree grow (or Clara to shrink?). Her Godfather gives life to the Nutcracker doll. Clara and her Nutcracker find themselves under attack by a Mouse Queen and her mice. Clara saves the Nutcracker, by distracting the Queen when she throws her slipper at the mouse. The Nutcracker is then able to kill the Queen with a fatal blow.
