W When I think of strong Latin women, I cannot help but think of Gloria Estefan! I can still clearly remember Gloria back in the 80’s when I was growing up her talent was only overshadowed by her incredible strength and courage when she had her horrible bus accident. With a career that spans decades, Gloria has not only paved roads for young aspiring Latino singers and song writers, but has also overcome tremendous challenges in life. We moved here about 10 or15 years ago. We still own the building in Ybor city, on as a matter of fact, Angel Oliva Sr. Street. To honor my dad, they changed the name of 18th street, from highway 60 all the way to the interstate to Angel Oliva Sr. Street. We are very, very proud of our heritage. The building we have in Ybor City was built in 1890. I’m told it is the Oldest Wooden Cigar factory in the United States. It has the Cigar museum behind it, casita’s historic museum next to it and we have been trying to get the city or state, federal government, whatever, to buy the Building and make that whole block a historical area. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. It is not occupied. This building we have a very sentimental attachment to. It belonged to Garcia y Vega, which was one of our biggest customers and one of best
