IMPORTANT INFORMATION We are excited for the upcoming school year and getting to know your child. It will be an awesome year! Below is some helpful information that will make this a great year of preschool for everyone! BEFORE CLASS EACH DAY – It is imperative that you health check your child before heading to school. Children rarely complain about not feeling well. They manifest it in other ways; such as, sleeping longer than usual, crying, not eating, and acting out. It is our utmost priority to keep your child, the other students, and our teachers safe this year from COVID-19. Please LAF (look, ask, feel) with your child each morning by “looking” at their eyes, nose and throat, “asking” them how their head, tummy and throat feels and “feeling” their heads and taking their temperature every morning so you get familiar with their daily temp and know if it is elevated. If they have any symptoms at all, please keep them home! IF YOUR CHILD HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO A POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE, OR ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY IS POSITIVE, YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO STAY HOME UNDER QUARANTINE FOR 14 DAYS. IF YOUR CHILD TESTS POSITIVE, THEY NEED TO STAY HOME UNTIL THEY TEST NEGATIVE OR ARE CLEARED BY THE LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT. DROP OFF/PICK UP – When dropping your child off at school, pull up in your car alongside the curb in front of the building. A teacher will greet them, do a health check and escort them inside. Because of the pandemic this year, parents and other family members are not allowed to enter the building. Pick up will be the same way. Pull up in your car and your child will be escorted out by a teacher. Students are required to wear a face covering when entering and exiting the building. Remember to have your child’s name plate displayed on your front dashboard. We cannot release children to anyone without a name plate displayed.

COVID-19 SAFETY ROUTINE – Upon dropping off your child, they will be given a health screening. A teacher will escort them into the building as a class. During this time face coverings must be worn. Once inside, every child will wash and sanitize their hands before entering the class room. Once inside the classroom they may remove their face covering. Face coverings will be worn during singing times or any other activities where social distancing is not possible. During class time they will be sitting at desks which are social distanced and using their own class room supplies and education packet to reduce touch exposure. After class they will wash and sanitize their hands and put on their face coverings before being escorted out to your car to return home. SNACK TIME – Your child will receive a snack each day. Please let us know (in writing) if your child has any food allergies. We do ask that you donate a bulk snack item at the beginning of the year. Individually wrapped and store purchased only please. HOLIDAYS/DAYS OFF – We celebrate each national holiday in class. If you prefer your child to opt out of these parties, please let us know or keep them home that day. We follow Davis school district for days off school. FIELD TRIPS – When we go on field trips each child will need one adult to accompany them. ASSESSMENTS - Students are given a simple test a couple times per year to track progress and ensure they are in the correct class for their academic skill level. If you have any questions about your child’s progress, feel free to set up a time to meet with Miss Marsha. SHOW AND TELL – One day per week students are allowed to bring a treasure from home to show and tell about. Please refer to your calendar (sent home monthly) to know which day this falls on. It is usually held on the last class day of the week. Show and tell will not be passed around this year and living pets are not allowed due to the COVID-19 risk.

MORE IMPORTANT TIPS - Label your child’s belongings. We transition from school to dance/tumbling and while we strive to keep track, sometimes belongings will be accidentally mixed up and put in the wrong backpack. If you find something in your child’s backpack that doesn’t belong to your child please return it to school the following day. - A hungry, tired, child has difficulty concentrating. Please be sure your child eats breakfast and has a restful night’s sleep before attending class. It makes a huge difference in their potential to listen and learn. - Bathroom breaks are taken as often as needed and your child will be washing their hands upon entering and before exiting the building. That being said, it is always helpful if you make sure your child has visited the bathroom before coming to school. - Please leave toys and other items at home unless they are bringing them for show and tell. - Most importantly please go through your child’s backpack every single day. This is crucial because notes to parents come home in backpacks and also you can track your child’s academic progress.

PARENT HOMEWORK Please send the following items with your child the first day of school: 1. Backpack, supply bag (provided), Education packet (provided.) 2. Two-pocket folder. 3. Birthday poster (provided.) 4. Water bottle (water only please.) 5. Bulk snack item (individually wrapped only.) Classroom donations are always welcome and much appreciated. Here are some items we are always in need of: Wipes (anti-bacterial/regular), paper plates, glue sticks, facial tissue, pasta (with large openings), construction paper, brown lunch sacks
