Benedict Campus: • As we conclude Semester 1, I’d like to take this opportunity to commend the students for the positive way in which they have accessed the curriculum and engaged in the variety of extra-curricular activities the school provides. I’d particularly like to extend my gratitude to the staff who take on many extra responsibilities and provide engaging learning experiences for the students both in and out of the classroom, overseeing organisational and logistical matters and ensuring their safety and wellbeing is always a priority. I hope they all enjoy a well-deserved restful break! • Much discernment has gone into the Semester 1 reports. Families, please use them as a starting point for conversations with your child/ren regarding their commitment to their education. There is much to praise and we all benefit from some future goal setting. Celebrate the achievements and recognise the progress your child/ren are making! • It is always a very real delight to welcome the mid-year Receptions on their Orientation Days. The school community is looking forward to embracing the newest Receptions and the next cohort of Little Lions who will join us in Semester 2. • The end of a Semester will sometimes bring changes; Aedan Anish in Reception Blue and his family will be moving to Adelaide, we have enjoyed their presence amongst us and wish them well. Mrs Sarah Freer will begin her leave as she prepares to welcome her and Brodie’s third child. Sarah is an absolute asset to the College in her role as Assistant to the Deputy and teacher at Benedict Campus. Congratulations to Mr Niall Ashby who will take on the role in Sarah’s absence. We will also welcome Mr Matt Mead back from Long Service Leave and thank Mr Greg Phillips for his work with 4 Blue. • Semester 2 will begin with some very special events (pending Covid restrictions) so save the date! Semester 2 SRC Liturgy and Badge Presentation (including certificate presentation to Semester 1 SRCs) – Thursday 22 July, 2:30pm and Grandparents’ Day on Friday 23 July (the day is divided into two sections with grandparents/friends of students with surnames A-L in the morning and M-Z in the afternoon.) More details will follow via Operoo. Ms Melissa Gadaleta, Deputy Principal, Benedict Campus Bosco Campus: • Last week we showcased the work we have been doing in Research Project, STEM and the Arts. While the weather wasn’t kind to us it was great to see so many people turn out to view student’s work. Thank you to the parents / caregivers who came along to affirm our students and their learning. • This week our Year 10 students have ventured out into the local and wider community for a taste of the workforce. Year 10 Work experience is the beginning of our launch of the SACE PLP subject and is a critical component of preparing youth for the transition into adulthood. Work Experience provides students with a hands-on opportunity to help them discover possible post-school pathways of employment. Our students are very fortunate to have this weeklong experience, allowing them to gain insights into real-life working conditions. • Please keep an eye out for details that will be communicated regarding Year 10/11 Career Counselling, SACE Information Nights and Parent Teacher Interviews which will be happening in the first few weeks of Term 3. • Reports for Semester 1 are released via SEQTA at 12:30pm Friday. Please take the time to review these with your child. Consider success, areas for improvement and how you can encourage and support them as they continue their learning in Semester 2. As we continue to be mindful of changing restrictions and circumstances I wish you all a restful Term break and look forward to seeing you all back at school in Term 3.
