RCEDCThrough the leadership of our Board of Directors, diligent work of our RESULTS SUMMARYstaff and volunteers and cooperation of our partners, RCEDC was ableto maintain a comprehensive list of business, community and workforcedevelopment services. These services were made possible, in part,through the financial contributions of our private sector investors andthe economic development service contracts with the public sector. Wewant to take this opportunity to offer our sincere appreciation to thesepartners.Economic development is a team effort and to that end we wantto acknowledge and thank our local, regional and State businessdevelopment organizations that we work with every day that havesupported us in our efforts. In addition, our thanks to the real estate,development and finance industries for their support, insight andexpertise that have helped us establish Racine County as a competitivelocation in the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor.As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, RCEDC was established tocoordinate the economic development needs in Racine County byworking with local units of government and private companies. Thiseffort is accomplished by employing a number of technical and financialtools including low interest loans, grants, tax credits and more. If acompany is planning a capital investment project that will include jobcreation, they are the perfect candidate for RCEDC resources.Throughout 2015 the RCEDC staff completed 24 company expansionand recruitment projects that included more than $82 million in newprivate investment. These successes were accomplished with theassistance of $4.85 million in grants and incentives and $3.2million in low-interest loans from RCEDC’s financedivision, Business Lending Partners. BURLINGTONPROJECTS DAWLEY MANUFACTURING 140 Industrial Drive INDUSTRY: Aviation manufacturing company that by volume of repairs is the largest aircraft exhaust repair operation in the US RCEDC ASSISTANCE: Financial assistance of a low-interest loan of $100,000 in partnership with the Fox River State Bank allowed the company to purchase additional manufacturing equipment.The Dawley companies, founded in 1985, are viewed as the pioneer in aircraft exhaust repair with nearly 500,000 systems rebuilt to date. Dawley continues its innovative spirit by investing in new technology to meet its customers’ needs.APPLIED MATERIAL SOLUTIONS1956 S. Pine StreetINDUSTRY: A chemical manufacturing companythat specializes in silicas and defoamer productsfor the food, water treatment and industrialprocesses industriesRCEDC ASSISTANCE: RCEDC led the recruitmenteffort that resulted in the company locating inBurlington. WATERFORD PROJECTS TEN CLUB PARK RCEDC ASSISTANCE: RCEDC and Waterford worked with the engineering firm, Kapur & Associates, to develop concepts for a new design for Ten Club Park that incorporated a new seawall and signage. The project addressed existing and new parking options, pedestrian and driver safety and drainage issues. “ RCEDC was able to develop a strategic plan that pointed us to success. They delivered on all points and had a positive ”impact on our project. Visitors to the community will be able to readily access directional information forkey points of interest. RCEDC mic Development INITIATIVESIn addition to the 24 business recruitment and expansion projects completed in2015, RCEDC launched a new professional leadership series, continued its CEORoundtable forum and rolled out a new retail analytics initiative.LIVING AS A LEADERThe 12-month leadership development series delivered by Impact Consultingprovided comprehensive training for managers, supervisors and companyleaders. The series included monthly four-hour workshops and one-on-onecoaching sessions. The goal of the program was to equip managers with theresources necessary to create an effective and high performing team. Workshoptopics ranged from facilitating productive meetings to employee engagementand maximizing employee performance. This series will continue in 2016 and isprovided in partnership with RAMAC.CEO ROUNDTABLEModeled after the Edward Lowe Foundation’s PeerSpectives program, thisCEO training series differs from other roundtables. Critical components of thisprogram included a trained facilitator, shared experiences rather than advicegiving, noncompeting industry participants and a structured protocol thatensured a balanced discussion. Besides being highly effective, peer learningis an educational process that companies readily embrace. “The participantsare incredibly time-pressed leaders and they don’t have time for traditionalnetworking or educational events,” offered RCEDC’s facilitator Tom Magulski.“This program delivers bottom-line results making it worth the time investment.”RCEDC launched this CEO development program in 2011 and it will continuein 2016.RETAIL ANALYTICSRCEDC’s recruitment efforts largely focus on prospects that would occupybusiness parks. However, in response to several community leaders seekingretail development opportunities, RCEDC invested in ESRI’s Business Analystprogram to access the data needed to recruit retailers to specific areasin Racine County.In 2015, RCEDC and the City of Burlington partnered to create the City’s first“Retail Market Analysis.” The ESRI analytics were evaluated in companion withthe Burlington Chamber’s community survey and the City’s business surveys.The combination of analytics and surveys provided community driven insightsto develop a data-rich implementation plan for the City.14 RCEDC INITIATIVES
