MY STORYSome don’t believe in love at first sight. I do. As soon as I saw Astoria, I was in love. The streets,the architecture, the restaurants, and best of all, the energy. I was looking for a place to buy andI wanted to be close to transportation but also be able to keep my car. Astoria you have the bestof both worlds. I saw about 3 places and really liked one, but got cold feet. I saw one place Iliked, but by the time I decided, it was gone. A month later, the broker called me. The deal hadfallen through. I left work early and ran to see the unit again, offered over asking price to make sureI did not miss out again, and I bought the property. This was in June of 2007 when there were afew buildings going up in Astoria but only about a handful. Since I was buying New Development,there was no real date as to when the property would be completed and when the property wouldbe able to be closed on. For me that was ok, I had more time to work and make extra money tobuy furniture and for bills, etc. At the time the rates were around 6-7%. I was able to get a loanat 6.5%. If you are reading this today, That is HIGH!! But this was the only option for me and itwould NOT stop me from buying. I finally closed on the condo in December 2017. I moved in andwas so excited for this new venture in my life.Soon after I closed, the real estate market crashed. I didn’t panic. I didn’t really know how it wouldaffect me. Only we were in a recession and companies were laying people off and at the time I hada full time job and was not doing real estate full time at that time. I started doing rentals for a realestate company in Manhattan and made some extra money to pay my mortgage. I also worked fulltime in for a cosmetic company at the time that of course was one of the unlucky ones that got laidoff. Here I am stuck with a hefty mortgage and I needed to find a way so I could pay my bills. Ijumped into Real Estate full time. Here I am, 11 years laterand I currently own two condos in Astoriaand am on my way to buying a third. I refinanced a few times on my first property and currentlyuse it for investment. Believe in the Astoria real estate market. Believe it will do good by you. I didnot want to rent, only wanted to buy and build equity. It was a risk, but with no risk, there wouldhave been no reward. Time for you to reward yourself, let me help walk you through it and wouldlove to be a part of the journey!
