Art to take your breath away When describing John Waller’s abstract landscapes, prominent art historian Dr Christopher Heathcote said they “took my breath away.” The much-travelled Heathcote was marvelling at the artist’s confident and technically-informed style, which he described as standing above “the cloying competitiveness” of the Australian art scene. “This was advanced painting in an international grain.” Waller is regarded as an Australian painter of significance and his works are regularly exhibited and highly sought after internationally. Queenscliff Gallery will host a selection of his most recent canvases this month in a solo exhibition celebrating his unique style. It runs until November 16, with an official closing from 2-to-4pm on November 15.
