52Why Is It Important To Discover New Music?By Reid AllenJul 9, 2015Music is one of the greatest things to ever be introduced to us. It’s a way of interpreting emotions and feelings intoa few stanzas with a melody. It’s something that we can all relate to, whether you’re either happy or sad. There aresongs that are related to a depressing moment such as a break-up or losing someone. Heck, maybe you just feeldown for no reason. Regardless, there’s a song out there that you can relate to.Something I have noticed is that a lot of people tend to stick to a group of bands and not want to branch out. That’ssomething that should be changed right away. Listening to the same bands over and over again will just make themhard to listen to down the road. The same joy and excitement you got from listening to them will slowly diminishover time.I’m not saying to disregard these bands, but branch out and add new ones to your collection. There are all types ofbands out there you would like that may surprise you.On top of only a small selection of bands that people stick to, some people may only stick to one genre of music. Iknow for the longest time I only stuck to listening to rock music. As I got older, I decided to listen to Rap and HipHop groups such as Outkast, NWA, and Lupe Fiasco.I’ll never forget those first times popping in those CDs. It was an incredible experience. I was blown away by theoutpour of the style of music that I hadn’t given much of a chance to. I was intrigued by the way the artists were ableto recite their lyrics in a way that matched the beats so perfectly. You could feel the raw emotions that were being ex-pressed in the lyrics and in the melodies. Granted, I’m not a huge fan of sampling other artists’ work, but these guyscould it well. It fit perfectly! As a result of this, I learned more about Hip Hop and Rap. I decided check out more artists that were apart of thisgenre. I simply could not get enough of it. It broadens your mind and makes you more cultured to check out newmusic. As an added bonus, you have new topics to talk about with people. Can’t beat that!About The Authorhttp://newandoldvinyls.blogspot.com/This is the link to my blogArticle Source: http://www.artipot.com
53The Science of MusicBy Vishal RamanMusic is a truly amazing thing. Anyone can enjoy music, no matter who they are, how old they are, or whatever theirpersonality might be. In addition, anyone can listen to any type of music, whether it’s jazz, hip-hop, classical, andmore. But what goes on in the brain when people are listening to music, or even practicing an instrument? Whatmakes people so excited when they listen to music? Music is an important part of our lives and it can helps everyonein more ways than people usually believe. There is not just one part of the brain that is designated for music. Music puts several parts of the brain to work. Thefrontal lobe (the part that processes one’s decision making ability, emotions, problem solving, etc.) and the temporallobe (the part that processes emotions, hearing, memory) both work together to process a sound, while other partsof the body are processing pitch, rhythm, and melody. If the song has words, the part of the human brain that pro-cesses language is also at work. People might even use their occipital lobe(the part that processes vision) becausewhen listening, some people try to put a picture in their head of the music. Some songs make people want to get upand dance. That is because the song is triggers the motor cortex. The cerebellum is also involved, because it tries toanticipate the timing of the song by using previously heard songs. Generally, the right side of the brain is used morefor creativity and creative activities. Music does have a creative aspect and requires creativity, but a lot of scientistssay that music is so complicated that it cannot be given a definite side. This is because it depends on how knowledge-able the person is about music and music theory, whether they know the lyrics, and so on. We don’t know whichside the brain uses for sure. Music is not just processed in one section of the brain. The entire brain is involved in theprocess of music.Music can also help in terms of memory. Memory is stored in the medial prefrontal cortex where memory is stored. So if someone is listening to music and that person gets a perfect score on a test, then when that person hears thatsong again that memory will light up. In Alzheimer’s Disease, the brain slowly deteriorates, meaning that memory, thinking, and behavioral skills are slowly lost. But since this part of the brain is one the last to be affected by this, even people with this disease can remember things when they hear music. Music helps people with memory prob-lems, and can help us greatly.Studies have shown that being happy when listening to music, activates the reward center of the brain. When thishappens, dopamine is released. Dopamine is what causes addictions. When dopamine is released in the brain, it feelsa rush. To feel this rush more often, humans tend to perform the dopamine-producing task even more, and withmore intensity, releasing more dopamine. But later, the human body stops feeling that rush, so people want to doeven more and more to have the feeling. This is how addictions arise. So this means that music affects us the sameway drugs, alcohol, and eating affects us. This also means that there is a connection between music and happiness ina way. Music therapy can be used to help those with many illnesses. Music can make us happy or sad and affects ouremotions.Music may be something a person is studying, a hobby, or something that entertains people, but additionally, musiccan impact us in more ways than we think. It can help us learn, remember, and make us live happier, which overall,is a very positive impact on our lives. Music is important, not only because it is fun to listen to, but because it helpsus grow in order to gain more knowledge. That is the science of music.Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Vishal_RamanArticle Source: http://EzineArticles.com/9052261
54The Truth About Promoting Music Online For Independent ArtistsBy Francheska CraigIt is rare for independent artists to break into the music scene without any help from major music companies in theindustry. There are some who rely on social media to help launch their careers and others rely on social networking. The truth of the matter is that promoting online can be tricky but there are some ways that artists can promote theirsongs without relying heavily on the internet.Promoting MusicMany people see the internet as the future of everything. This is the reason why many artists launch their musiccareer online. This might be a nice idea if you are a popular singer and have billions of followers, but if you are justnew to the scene, you will probably find your music at the end of the chart or even out of the chart list. Some web-sites offer free uploads for artists and a certain percentage from sales is deducted. You might find this agreeable. Ifyou count the profit less the fees, you will find yourself earning little or having to pay more for the charges you incur.Another disadvantage with releasing one’s music online is piracy. With high-tech software enabling people to down-load music and other media freely, the chances of having one buyer copying and sharing it freely online is possible.Promoting music can be tricky and can require musicians to shell out hundreds for online advertising campaigns. One of the best ways to promote music however is through the local community where the artist is from. As one isknown locally, the community can and will support homegrown talents. Some towns as well as the federal govern-ment, also provide grant aids to help local musicians develop their talents.Another way of promoting one’s music is through visiting local clubs or nearby hotels. These gigs will not requirethe band or artist to invest heavily on traveling and can lower traveling expenses. A lot of people think that local gigspay small; however some clubs do pay out incentives and exclusivity fees especially when the artists become popularand attract a lot of clients to the club.Should you still use the Internet?Using the internet is one way to create exposure and should be utilized to that extent.
