Shining Stars of Jacksonville By Mario Gonzalez of Navy to Navy Homes As a 24-year retired Navy Vet, I am never anything short of amazed to see young people who accept the challenge to attend a service academy. Their extraordinary achievements in high school go beyond the average student. They must establish themselves as incredibly accomplished students, as capable athletes and must show leadership potential through numerous channels to even be considered as a candidate. Last year over 16,000 students applied to the Naval Academy, and only 1200 were selected for the class of 2023. We would like to introduce you to three of the outstanding future leaders from your hometown of Jacksonville. Tiaan’s Story Tiaan Mattiace visited the United appointment to the class of 2021 he received an appointment to the States Naval Academy during a after the application process. After Academy, and they all hope he will 6th grade trip to Washington D.C. receiving encouragement from his be able to represent the Navy on the Instantly intrigued, he set his sights brother Gavin, Tiaan successfully golf arena regularly. on attending the Academy and held applied to the USNA as well and on to that focus throughout his received his appointment to the class Tiaan’s father said, “Both my school years. of 2023. boys have never shied away from Several other schools reached out to challenges and have a strong love for Interestingly, his brother Gavin, two recruit Tiaan for golf. That was and hopefully the opportunity to that both of their sons entered the all it took, and he was offered an play golf. His family is so proud that United States Armed Forces as neither parent has family members who have 904-900-4766 6 served. However, their aunt, (father’s NavytoNavy.com sister) married a 2-star general in the South African Army who also holds a master’s degree from the U.S. Army War College. His parents believe that the experience and expertise of their uncle provided the encouragement and motivation to their boys with regards to a military career.
Nadia’s Story Nadia Vassou is the oldest of two daughters and her younger sister, Anjali is her biggest fan. Her parents said, “We could not be prouder of Nadia’s accomplishments, and we look forward to seeing how far she will soar at the United States Naval Academy.” Nadia graduated from Trinity Catholic High School in Ocala, Florida. There she was part of the Trinity Catholic Band, where she was drum major her senior year. Additionally, she was on the Cross Country and Track & Field Teams, participated in many service clubs, and is an active member of her church. Nadia was blessed to have been able to take dual enrollment classes with Embry-Riddle. The classes she took introduced her to the world of aeronautics and inspired her to consider possibilities that she never dreamed of for her future. Military life was never part of Nadia’s plans until she visited Rhode Island with her family to celebrate her uncle, Ryan Kaufman, as he completed the Officer Candidate School for the U.S. Navy. It was after the graduation ceremony that she realized that the Navy was the path that God had set for her. It was shortly after that trip that she began the journey for admission to USNA. Nadia has shared that Plebe Summer was a humbling experience. Not being raised in a military family, she had the privilege of learning the history and traditions of the United States Navy. After a short amount of time, USNA has inspired Nadia to take on any challenge, take great pride in working with a team, and to celebrate the ability to serve our great nation. 904-900-4766 As a new family to USNA, Nadia’s NavytoNavy.com parents said, “We are so thankful to know that our daughter is in an environment where she can develop morally, mentally, and physically. Go Navy, Beat Army!” 7

sound simple, but many websites that don’t do this well…and we are talking about one specifically built for your home alone. A “single property website” is a website for your home and your home alone. With no competition on it at all. With a little bit of today’s technology, that single website can be marketed to THOUSANDS of people who are ready, willing, and able to buy your home for a fraction of the advertising costs of years past. If your agent isn’t doing this today…then it would be worse than trying to sell your home 25 years ago without placing an ad in the paper! Back then, print advertising was the way to go…today it is on the internet and specifically in the mobile arena. Navy to Navy Homes continues to embrace industry- leading technology and can market your home to thousands of potential buyers at no additional cost to you. If you would like to see what your home would look like on one of these high-tech mobile sites, call them today for a free demonstration at 904-900- 4766. Rocket Your Listing with a Coming Soon Campaign Contributed by Navy to Navy Homes With over 9000 Real Estate agents in the Northeast Florida region, it is difficult to know if the agent you choose is doing their part in “Selling” your home or if they are just “waiting for it to sell.” One sure-fire way is watching what they do BEFORE the home is actively listed on the MLS. Yes, that is correct…I said, “before!” Here in Jacksonville, some stipulations allow for agents to run a “Coming Soon” campaign, prior to having the listing go active on the MLS (Multiple List Service) and all syndication sites (Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com, etc.). When done effectively a “tech-infused” Coming Soon campaign can bring a flurry of buyers to your home which often results in multiple offers, quick sales, easy terms, and even sales prices over original asking prices. 904-900-4766 16 NavytoNavy.com
The magic isn’t in just putting a sign out that says worries, we do! And we can employ the same techniques “Coming Soon” or listing it in the MLS as “Coming Soon” to sell your home. Imagine if your home appeared on status; it comes in the aggressive marketing that can be the cell phones of every potential buyer that drove done, while in the Coming Soon status. If done properly, through your neighborhood before it hit the market. Or the Coming Soon campaign can be used to emotionally stir if it appeared to every buyer that was online looking at up a multitude of buyers that will converge on your house homes similar to yours but would otherwise never see the day it goes live in the MLS. your home. And what if you could continue to appear back on their phones in a non-intrusive way with attractive The two main psychological aspects to this are “supply & professional photos, videos, & drone footage that and demand” (which most people understand) and made your home stand head-and-shoulders above the “FOMO” (Fear of missing out…a less common discussed competition? term in real estate). It occurs when buyers are actively searching for homes on the market. They are searching Well, everything I just described is what we at Navy to online, driving by, scheduling walk-throughs with real Navy Homes do before we ever market the home as estate agents…all the normal things.
