The minimum monthly salary rates are: An Indian -- Dhs1,100 Filipina -- Dhs1,400 Sri Lankan -- Dhs825 Indonesian -- Dhs800 Bangladesh -- Dhs750 Ethiopia -- no set standard Secondly, you have to be married or living with a family.The maid you hire should be from the list of countries mentioned above and you can- not have any family relations with the maid. THE PROCESS If you go to an agency, all the paper work will be conducted for you by the agency. However, if you want to do it on your own you must go through the legal steps to sponsor your maid and give her a visa. First you have to apply for a residence visa for your maid; after she ar- rives you have to apply for a medical fitness report follow by an applica- tion for a residency stamp on her passport and the issue of a domestic worker card. Every step from applying for a visa to issuing a labour card is tedious process.You have to gather several documents for every appli- cation as well as pay a lot for every service; for example you have to pay for the medical fitness tests, typing services and several deposits. Only when all legalities are done, the DNRD will issue a Domestic Workers Identity Card. There should also be contract between the maid and the sponsor stating the duties and responsibilities of each party.
