Greetings, What an exciting time for your child as they prepare to enter Kindergarten! This school year will be full of adventures and opportunities for your child to develop and grow, and we welcome your student and your family to our school! In this digital magazine we have included a few helpful tools to help you, the parent, prepare your child for a successful start to Kinder year. Please mark your calendar for: “Meet the Teacher” on Tuesday, August 13th, 6:00pm - 7:00pm “First Day of School” on Thursday, August 15th. 1. What is the school day bell schedule (what time does my child have to be at school and what time can I pick them up)? School begins at 7:35 and ends at 2:50. They may walk to their classroom beginning at 7:20. If they arrive after 7:35, they will need to get a tardy slip from the office before going to class. 2. What does morning drop off look like? You can drop off at the front or side of the school by car. You can walk up to the back of the school by the gym and drop your child off there. 3. Can I walk my child to their room? To walk your child to the classroom, you will need to check in at the office and get a visitors badge. 4. What does afternoon pick up look like? Walkers will picked up in the gym. Car riders will be picked up in the car lane (front or side depending on grade level and siblings). Daycare will be picked up by their daycare provider. Extend-A-Care will be picked up by an Extend-A-Care staff member and taken to the cafeteria. 5. How do I pick my child up from school? We have several options for afternoon pick-up. More details about each one will be shared at Back To School Night in August. 6. Can I pick up my child early from school? What do I need to do? Where do I need to go? What do I need to have with me when I pick my child up? If you need to pick your child up early from school, you will need to go to the front office to sign them out. You will need your ID. We do not allow students to be signed out after 2:15. 7. Can I have lunch with my child? Can I bring food to school to share with him/her? Yes, you may eat with your child. You are welcome to bring lunch and share food with your child but you may not share food with any other children at school. Please wait for them in the cafeteria. 8. How much does lunch cost? Can I send my child with a lunch box? Yes, you can send your child with a lunch box. If they plan to buy lunch it costs $2.60. You can find more information on the daily menu on the District Website. 9. Is there a snack time built into the day? All of our Kindergarten classes have a snack time built into the day. Your child’s teacher will inform you how that will be handled. 10. Am I allowed to bring snacks for my child’s birthday? Can I throw a party for him with his classmates? Due to several severe allergies, we do not allow snacks to be brought in for birthdays. Parties are not allowed at school. Invitations to personal birthday parties can passed out as long as the entire class is invited. 11. Is there childcare after school? Extend-a-care is housed in our cafeteria or many local daycares will pick up from school. 12. What opportunities will there be to help out in my child’s classroom? Your child’s teacher will give you plenty of opportunities to help. More information will go home with you on Back to School Night. 13. Is there a rest time built in to the day? There are quiet activities the first 2 weeks of school built into the schedule. There are no nap times in kindergarten.

Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. There is a strong connection between student attendance and academic performance. Therefore, when students miss class, they miss out on learning. Compulsory School Texas law requires that all children at least 6 years of Attendance Texas age and not yet 19 shall attend school. Students must bring a note within 5 school days.Todas las ausencias son justificadas hasta que el estudiante trae una nota .
