Greetings, What an exciting time for your child as they prepare to enter Kindergarten! This school year will be full of adventures and opportunities for your child to develop and grow, and we welcome your student and your family to our school! In this digital magazine we have included a few helpful tools to help you, the parent, prepare your child for a successful start to Kinder year. Please mark your calendar for: “Meet the Teacher” on Tuesday, August 13th, 6:00pm - 7:00pm “First Day of School” on Thursday, August 15th. 1. What is the school day bell schedule (what time does my child have to be at school and what time can I pick them up)? You can begin to drop off your child at 7:05 am in the cafeteria. A staff member will be there to monitor the children. The doors open at 7:15 am and the tardy bell rings at 7:35 am. You may pick up at 2:55 pm. 2. What does morning drop off look like? You can drop off your child in the front or side of the school. Adults will be present to assist them to their classrooms. You may also walk your child in but will need to check in through the office with your driver’s license before escorting them to their classrooms. Parents will not be allowed to walk to the classroom after the 7:35 am tardy bell. 3. Can I walk my child to their room? Yes, please remember to keep the goodbye quick and allow your child to perform their morning duties independently. (Carry their own backpack, unpack belongings, etc.) The tardy bell rings at 7:35 am and all parents should have exited the building. Please be sure to check in through the office before proceeding to your child’s classroom 4. What does afternoon pick up look like? K-3 car riders pick up in front of school. 4-5 car riders pick up from side of school after the school buses leave. If a 4-5 grader has a younger sibling, they will be picked-up at the front of the school. 5. How do I pick my child up from school? You will need to pick up your child through the car rider line described in #4 above. No parents are allowed to walk in to the building during dismissal. Please be sure to have your child’s name displayed in the front windshield. Your child’s name will be called over the walkie talkie and then your child will be escorted to their car. 6. Can I pick up my child early from school? What do I need to do? Where do I need to go? What do I need to have with me when I pick my child up? For early pick up, go to office and present your ID to check your student out before 2:30 pm. No student check out allowed after 2:30 pm. 7. Can I have lunch with my child? Can I bring food to school to share with him/her? Yes, just remember that all visitors must check in at front office with their government issued ID. Meet your child in the cafeteria, there are designated tables for visitors. You can bring in outside food if you wish. Food cannot be shared with other students. 8. How much does lunch cost? Can I send my child with a lunch box? It changes every year but the cost can be found on the district website. Yes, you can send a lunch box with your child. Please be sure your child’s lunch box is labeled with his/her name. 9. Is there a snack time built into the day? Yes 10. Am I allowed to bring snacks for my child’s birthday? Can I throw a party for him with his classmates? Yes, you are allowed to bring a special birthday snack that will be shared with the class the last fifteen minutes of school. We encourage easy to serve and eat snacks such as cookies, brownies, etc. Your child’s teacher will provide more details at the beginning of the year. You are more than welcome to have a party for your child outside of school, but you may not send invitations to school unless the entire class is invited. 11. Is there childcare after school? Yes, YMCA provides after school care for a cost. Contact YMCA of Buda for details. 12. What opportunities will there be to help out in my child’s classroom? PTA and your child’s teacher will provide you with many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year. Some examples include homeroom parent, workroom parent, Friday Folder parent, help with class parties, PTA events, etc. 13. Is there a rest time built in to the day? No, unfortunately not.

Attendance Matters Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. There is a strong connection between student attendance and academic performance. Therefore, when students miss class, they miss out on learning. Compulsory School Texas law requires that all children at least 6 years of Attendance Texas age and not yet 19 shall attend school. Students must bring a note within 5 school days.Todas las ausencias son justificadas hasta que el estudiante trae una nota .
