Greetings, What an exciting time for your child as they prepare to enter Kindergarten! This school year will be full of adventures and opportunities for your child to develop and grow, and we welcome your student and your family to our school! In this digital magazine we have included a few helpful tools to help you, the parent, prepare your child for a successful start to Kinder year. Please mark your calendar for: “Meet the Teacher” on Tuesday, August 13th, 6:00pm - 7:00pm “First Day of School” on Thursday, August 15th. Hello , Welcome to Buda Elementary. We are excited to have you as part of our Bulldog family. My name is Tim Robinson, proud principal of our school. 1. What is the school day bell schedule (what time does my child have to be at school and what time can I pick them up)? 7:05 downhill car rider gate is opened for students going to breakfast. 7:15 all gates, classrooms, and cafeteria is open. 7:35 tardy bell rings 2:55 all students are dismissed to designated, adult supervised areas according to their end of the day transportation. 2. What does morning drop off look like? Students arrive to school by bus or car. 3. Can I walk my child to their room?Parents are allowed to walk students into classroom during the first week of school. After the first week of school parents can drop at the door. 4. What does afternoon pick up look like? Students are bus riders, car riders, or EAC or walk up hill. Teachers have specific locations for each form of transportation. Teachers will then walk assigned groups of students to their transportation. (ex. Teacher-car riders, teacher 2- bus riders, etc.) 5. How do I pick my child up from school? Parents are expected to wait outside of the downhill gates in order to pick up students. Parents are not allowed to come to class. 6. Can I pick up my child early from school? What do I need to do? Where do I need to go? What do I need to have with me when I pick my child up? When picking up a student from our campus, come to the downhill office. You will need a valid driver's license. 7. Can I have lunch with my child? Can I bring food to school to share with him/her? Parents are welcome at lunch. Yes, you can bring food to share with your child. 8. How much does lunch cost? Can I send my child with a lunch box? 2.60 is the cost for a student lunch / 3.50is the cost for an adult guest lunch. Reduced lunches .40 for a student lunch Yes, you may send a lunch box for your student. Lunches are not warmed at school. 9. Is there a snack time built into the day? Yes, each class will have a snack time built into their day. 10. Am I allowed to bring snacks for my child’s birthday? Can I throw a party for him with his classmates? Yes, you are allowed to send snacks for your student’s birthday. The teacher will pass out special birthday snack after 2:00 in the afternoon. No, you may not throw a party for him in the classroom for his classmates. 11. Is there childcare after school? Yes, Extend-A-Care is offered at our campus. 12. What opportunities will there be to help out in my child’s classroom? Each classroom will need a homeroom parent to help organize and throw parties during the year. Teachers will also have various jobs that will need to be completed at home like cutting out, organizing, etc. There are also opportunities to volunteer in the library and the teacher workroom. 13. Is there a rest time built in to the day? No, there will not be a rest time built into the day.

Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. There is a strong connection between student attendance and academic performance. Therefore, when students miss class, they miss out on learning. Compulsory School Texas law requires that all children at least 6 years of Attendance Texas age and not yet 19 shall attend school. Students must bring a note within 5 school days.Todas las ausencias son justificadas hasta que el estudiante trae una nota . Los estudiantes deben traer una nota dentro de los 5 días escolares. ➔ When checking out of school for any reason, a note must be brought to the office the same morning to document the absence.A la salida de la escuela por cualquier razón, una nota debe ser presentada a la oficina de la misma mañana para documentar la ausencia. ➔ If the school nurse recommends a student go home, the parent must still provide a note.
