Y ear 2018 ended with a lot of memorable events for the foundation and 2019 started with a lot of hope. As part of our social responsibility, Sankar Foundation in association with Sight Savers India has taken up the responsibility to screen the truck drivers at Visakhapatnam. As part of the above activity, we are going to various parking places of trucks, including their loading areas such as HPCL, EIPL, VPTetc… and screening the drivers eyes. To our surprise, we found that out of 409 drivers screened, 268 required spectacle correction. We are delivering spectacle free of cost to the driver at his work place, to avoid loss of man days for them. We hope that, with this activity the number of accidents may come down. Important activities for this period. A high level team from Rangaraya medical college visited our hospital to inspect the facilities to accord affiliation to start B.Sc. optometry courses. Awareness walk was organized on the beach road on the eve of world disabled day on 3rd Dec 2018. The hospital reverberated with songs, laughter, jokes, ramp walk by our employees with traditional attire and the compound of the hospital was looking bright and colorful with Rangoli depicting the tradition of the culture of Andhra Pradesh. This is the atmosphere of the hospital for this Sankranthi festival, a very unlike atmosphere in the hospital. Sankar Foundation wishes its readers a happy new year ahead.
