SOCIAL STUDIES Life in the desert – Life of Bedouins in Saudi Arabia Students dressed up in abaya the most common garment in Saudi Arabia. Each group students discussed about lifestyle of Bedouins, their food habits. Bedouins are the oldest inhabitants of the de- serts of Arabia, a semi nomadic group of desert- dwellers who traversed the sands. These people are known for their resourcefulness and hospi- tality. Through this activity they have summarized about the lifestyle, food, clothing, housing, and occupation etc. of the people in Saudi Arabia.

SCIENCE Soil Erosion – How to prevent it Students of grade 5 had a discussion about the vari- ous possible ways by which soil erosion can be pre- vented. They came up with various possibilities like afforestation , mulching, terrace farming and build- ing embankments. They emphasized the importance of implementing ecofriendly methods like biode- gradable erosion control blanket which can stabilise the topsoil , mulching by using materials such as grass, hay, wood chips, wood fibers that are placed on exposed or recently planted soil surfaces. Mulch- ing is highly recommended as a stabilization method and is most effective when used in combination with vegetation establishment. Mulching can stabilize soils, and reduce storm water runoff velocity.

MATHEMATICS Nets A geometry net is a two-dimensional shape that can be folded to form a three-dimensional shape or a solid. When the surface of a three- dimensional figure is laid out flat showing each face of the figure, the pattern obtained is the net. Students were identified that solid and the net have the same number of faces and that there is a match between the shapes of the faces of the solid and the shapes of the cor- responding faces in the net. They visualize how the net is to be folded to form the solid and ensure that all the sides fit together properly.

ENGLISH Role playing is a learning structure that allows students to immediately apply content as they are put in the role of a de- cision maker who must make a decision regarding a policy, resource allocation, or some other outcome. This technique is an excellent tool for engaging students and allowing them to interact with their peers as they try to complete the task assigned to them in their specific role. It sparked creativity and imagination and encouraged children to empathize by taking on the role of character. Each member of the group presented their thoughts which in turn helps to enhance the linguistic skills. .
