Dunes International School is extremely proud to fe- licitate the winners of the Ken-Ken exam conducted in the academic year 2018- 2019, who put in sincere efforts to achieve their set target with complete dedica- tion and persistence . Shivani Mohan of grade 3C secured gold medal and Bhavya Manigandan of grade 4C. high –achiever with silver medal were honored in the special assembly. Students who secured silver and bronze medals were also fe- licitated on the occasion. Excitement and applause were at an all-time high for the students cheering and supporting the inspiring geniuses on stage. The win- ning students were awarded with medals and certificates by our Head Primary– Madam Manjeet to encourage and further motivate them. Special mention for Samiya Suresh who secured second place in light music .

An awareness of the deadly spreading epidemic of ‘Coronavirus’ was con- ducted on 4th of February 2020 by Dr. Sajeev Nair, a prominent physician at LLH hospital. The session threw light on the different aspects from the intial symptoms, origin, curing steps to the essential precautionary measures to be taken leading to the spread of this virulent disease. Stu- dents were made aware of the precautionary measures to prevent from being affected and how to keep themselves clean especially when they come in contact with others. The session was informative and students were given opportunity to clear their doubts. A short Power point Presentation was displayed in every class which highlighted the im- portance of personal hygiene as a measure to prevent the spread of the epidemic.

Role plays are important in teaching language because it allows the students to practice speaking in a con- versational situation, build confidence and fluen- cy, assess progress, and put learning into ac- tion. Students have done a role play on the topic “I help my mother. ” Each group created a conver- sational situation and spoke well in Arabic.

As we all know healthy mind lives in healthy body and teeth is also paramount part of our system. To take care of our teeth is very important, how to keep them clean as well. Stu- dents were presenting a mind map on teeth how teeth will help us in various way. To speak correctly, to smile, to eat food and they are helpful for our personality too. They spoke in different ways and told the whole class we should not eat sugary food and drinks which is harmful for our teeth. They also learnt how to brush your teeth properly. Thus, they under- stood the value of the lesson ‘CARE’. .

Temperature is the measure of how hot or cold things are . Students were aware of weather conditions in the UAE and their home countries. They know that thermometer is used to measure tempera- ture. The main objective of the activity was to read tem- perature using a thermometer in celsius and Fahrenheit scale . By learning to read a thermometer, students un- derstand temperature and how it changes and they can check the temperature every day by themselves. Students have used Celsius scale thermometer and iden- tified the object is hot or cold by measuring it. They have learned the concept of measuring temperature mathematically. They have differentiated the two scales of measuring temperature. They enjoyed measuring and reading temperature of various things.

Design Thinking strategy also known as Reverse brainstorming is a good technique to try when it is difficult to identify solutions to the problem di- rectly. It helps to solve problems by combin- ing brainstorming and reversal techniques. By combining these, you can extend your use of brain- storming to draw out even more creative ideas.to use this technique Students of grade 5 used design thinking strategy to brainstorm and write how they can make water dirty. Later these point were reversed to get solution for how we can pre- vent water pollution. Students evaluated their ideas even by representing it diagram- matically.

Playing the tambourine requires skill . and attention. Keeping the beat while playing is very important and requires a lot of concentration. Students learn to play the Conga, Tambourine & Djembe while trying to keep beat, which keeps the mind alert and fresh. Learning mu- sical instruments help in keeping a balance between studies and school work.

Arts experiences boost critical thinking, teach- ing students to take the time to be more care- ful and thorough in how they observe the world. To boost the creativity in kids, they were given an activity to create an African mask. Traditional African masks are one of the elements of great African art . This activity helped students to understand about the tradi- tional African culture and elements of African art & designing ideas and to learn how to develop a designs by using bright colors and different color gradients, tones and textures They were eager to experiment with colors, beads and other decorative items and showcase their work at its best.
