STUDENT LED LEARNING The role of education is to prepare students for an unknown future. This means that learning goals for education must also aim to make students capable of searching for knowledge, of selecting, analyzing, and evaluating findings against criteria and standards; of questioning their findings; and of becoming knowledge producers. This requires independent and critical reflection. Student- or peer-led learning is one such approach where students themselves facilitate their learning. This helps them to think through what they have previously been taught and encourages collaborative learning. This strategy allows, and gets students, to recall -- in detail what they have learned, gives them ownership over the learning, increases a student's verbal communication skills and gives a student multiple way to re- member and retain information that they have learned.

Students of grade 5 learnt that impurities in water may include some combination of insoluble, soluble, and colored impurities. Practically they proved that Insoluble impurities can be removed from water fair- ly easily. By using the methods like sedimentation, decantation and filtration, it is easy to remove insoluble impurities from water. They also came to know that the filtrate, the water which we get after filtra- tion is also not fit for use as it may contain soluble impurities like germs. Then they suggested the methods like boiling, chlorination and adding potassium permanganate are the simple ways by which we can kill the germs and can make the water fit for domestic purposes.

TOLERANCE “Tolerance is the ability or willingness to tolerate the existence of opinions or behavior that one dis- likes or disagrees with.” When H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared 2019 as the Year of Tolerance, they realized that there is an increasing need for coexistence and harmony globally. To fulfil this, it ’s important to strengthen human relations. H.H. Sheikh Mohammed declared Ghaf tree as the logo of the Year of tolerance because of its great significance that the tree bears as an indigenous tree. It is a symbol of the stability of the desert and a witness to old customs. The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has given the Ghaf tree a great importance. The Ghaf tree symbolizes stability and peace in the desert and has the ability to adapt in the desert. Its flowers produce high quality nectar. UAE rulers used to meet their citi- zens and listen to their demands directly under the shadows of these trees and we will all remain in the shadow of tolerance and coexistence.
