1 The Textile Industry Faisalabad is known as Manchester of Pakistan because of its huge textile industry. It is the third most populous country and it has evolved into the biggest industrial and distribution centre because of its markets, connection to other cities and linkages, contributing a significant percentage to the total GDP of Pakistan. Some of the most famous textile mills including Crescent, Nishat, Sitara , Chenab & Masood textiles are located here.

2 PEOPLE OF FAISALABAD Faisalabad is quite diverse with respect to its culture. As it is an industrial city, people from all around the country come to work here. The culture here is quite fascinating, people belonging to diferent sects and religon can be seen roaming around the streets, without really bothering anybody. 3 Majority of the people residing in Faisalabad are Punjabi’s, thus the punjabi attire is considered as the traditional dress here. Punjabi women wear Kameez, traditional lacha, patyala shalwar, bangles and parandas. Where as men wear pagri dhoti and kurta. However, some people are also potohari shahpuri and siraiki. With the passage of time , people have modified their clothing style with the new trends. They can carry both of the attires very gracefully.

6 The Most Famous ‘GHANTA GHAR’ Although Faisalabad is famous for its textile industry but clock tower has always been a centre of attention for its historical context, a fascinating piece of art surrounded radially by eight different markets, making it a business hub. The clock tower is considered to be one of those monuments that were constructed by the british and still stand on its original form. The founda- tion of this monument was laid by Sir Charles Rivaz, governer of Punjab in 1903. The entire city of Faisalabad is planned on the pattern of a Union Jack, exactly like a British Flag. The clock tower, locally known as the Ghanta Ghar is located in the exact centre of the eight markets surrounding it. The clock tower is visible from all the markets. The way in which these eight markets are linked is very interesting. The eight different markets have a variety of very distinct products which gives these markets their own unique identity.

7 These markets are named upon their direction like the chiniot bazaar, dedicated entirely for the sale of medicines faces the city chiniot and thus is named after it. Katchery Bazaar, has a huge variety of mobile and mobile accessories, you will find every single brand here.
