SUMMARY The 800 m radial circle boundary centered on MRT-3 in Taft Avenue contains various road networks and infrastructures that cater to the needs of each resident in the area. The available streets in the area allow the traversing of people and vehicles from one area to another. There are also walkways for walking and bicycle lanes for cycling. Additionally, footbridges are stationed on Taft Avenue to help residents walk easily and avoid accidents. These road networks connect people to different infrastructures with lodging, automotive, religious centers, education, shopping, financial services, and healthcare. There are also telecommunications and parks near the station, which provide people with a place for leisure time. Moreover, as the line's southern terminus and the first and last stop for trains heading to and from North Avenue, MRT-3 plays a vital role in the transit system of the country. It also connects passengers to different bus line terminals like Victory Liner, Five Star Bus Company, Philtranco, and Genesis Transport. With this, MRT-3 caters to passengers in the area and passengers going to other cities and provinces. Thus, with the current conditions found in MRT-3, there are some recommendations that the group would like to propose following the TOD principles: • For a smoother flow of traffic along Taft Avenue, center islands are proposed to be put on the area to separate two lanes of traffic and improve the streetscape with the added landscaping in the area. • Adding raised pedestrian crossing for a traffic-calming strategy in intersections with no signages. • Modernizing the various public infrastructure to cope with the ever-changing world to make it more relevant to the public. • Improving the sidewalk by widening it and cycling lanes by further studying the cycle and pedestrian mobility in the area. • Installation of signages and street lights and revamping of pedestrian lane markings to avoid accidents. • Building parking spaces that would cater to people with disabilities. Aside from the stated recommendations, other changes can be made for more improvement, like the improvement of landscaping in the area and the components found in the station itself to cater better to the commuters. The TOD application in Taft Avenue will help improve the walkways and cycle lanes to create better public spaces around MRT-3 and reduce travel time while providing greater accessibility. Along with this is the enhancement of different transport fixtures to ensure the safety of the residents while connecting them with the different services they need without the use of private vehicles. On the other hand, some design components were not looked upon due to a lack of resource materials. These design components are the drainage and sewer system in the area since it is prone to flooding.
