4 THE STRAND MAGAZINE. Sufferers from Loss of Hair SHOULD AT ONCE AVAIL THEMSELVES OF THE TATCHO HAIR-HEALTH BRUSH, WHICH IS BEING PRESENTED FREE TO INTRODUCE AND POPULARIZE MR. CEO. R. SIMS' WONDERFUL HAIR - CROWER-TATCHO. You have heard of TATCHO—Mr. George R. Sims' TATCHO. Everybody has heard of it, and thousands upon thousands have good cause to bless its coming. Thousands who to-day possess fine, lusty, luxuriant heads of hair: whose youthful appearance has been many years prolonged by this happy discovery of the well-known Journalist—these are the people who have lived to thank Mr. Geo. R. Sims for a benefit which would otherwise never have been theirs. These people stand to-day an irrefutable, living, pulsating testimony to the virtues of this extraordinary specific—TATCHO, the true, genuine, honest hair-grower. WHEREIN IT SUPERSEDES ALL OTHER BRUSHES. Absolute cleanliness is the keynote of a healthy scalp. When it is considered that the hair—which is by nature greasy—is a locality upon which millions of floating organisms gravitate, loss of hair must, with the certainty of mathe- matics, ensue by using a hair brush which constantly gathers these impurities from the hair and scalp, and returns them to the scalp each time the brush is used. But your brush itself will speak far more eloquently than words. Examine it, if an old-style one, and you will find embedded in the bristles a mass of the decaying sub- stances referred to. They cling to and become em- bedded in the bristles, where they cannot be dis- lodged. It is impossible by any process of pas- teurising to destroy these injurious bacteria without destroying the brush it- self. Soon the bristles them- selves become diseased. If you cut off their ends and place them under a low power objective, you will see that they are usually split, and loaded with fungoid matter. It is idle to imagine that the presence of these putre- factive organisms in the hair brush does not seriously interfere with the healthy growth of the hair and the healthy functions of the scalp. The Tatcho Hair-Health Brush differs radically from the old-style brush. Instead of the bristles being set in tufts, they are set separately in a pneumatic air-cushion. These deftly-set bristles gently cleave the strands of hair, gathering up all impurities from the hair and scalp. By merely drawing the thumb across the bristled air-cushion after the brush has been used, all impurities jump from the vibrating bristles, leaving the brush sweetly clean for further use. Whole families are discarding the old-style hair brush, and using only the Tatcho Hair-Health Brush. Naturally, the gift of a Tatcho Hair-Health Brush

THE STRAND MAGAZINE. 3i \" E. B. D. Three Magic Letters of Paramount Importance to the Fair Sex. EXCEPTIONAL PRIVILEGES NOW AT THE DISPOSAL OF EVERY WOMAN WHO DESIRES BEAUTY OF FORM. It is a woman's prerogative to l>c beautiful. It is her gift to be graceful. Nature intended her as a gracious contrast to the masculine creation, and the woman who lacks beauty of form is offending against the canons of her sex. Yet in this prosaic, matter- of-fact age, it is a lament- able fact that many women neglect the art of preserva- tion or development of form. \" A fine figure of a woman \" —alas ! a phrase now too seldom heard, for the sor- rowful reason that ladies do not strive for that harn.ony and equ i poise of body which makes the \" tout ensemble \" so entrancing. Were it possible to classify women, we should find three distinct classes :— 1. Those who have a perfectly natural figure, pro- portionate in every detail and respect. 2. Those who lack the crowning diitinction of a beautifully moulded bust ; and 3. Those whose bust is conspicuous by its absence or flatness. You may have the features of a Venus and fascinating charms of personality, yet, lacking the \" one thing needful.'' you can never hope to command the adoration and devotion bestowed upou women who are divinely blended with perfect figures. But, where nature has falh-ii short, art and science have stepped in. To-day every woman who desires it can easily obtain the requisite hurt development necessary to transform her into \"a living picture of grace.' Once again have women to thank the wonderful gifts of a Parisian hidy for this saving mercy, and the name of Mroe. Helene Duroy should be held in high esteem by every lady who desires to attain perfect feminine attributes. This talented woman has devised a nunt wonderful, yet simple, system, whereby busts can t>e most infallibly developed. Even the most meagre bust responds to its delicately assertive principles, and on the Continent, not only in the circles of Royalty and fashion, but amongst those, of lowlier walks in life. Mrue. Helene Duroy has estab- lished a fame far transcending that of any other benefactor to her sex. Mine. Duroy's reputation has. of counse. crossed the Channel, and British women are not so insular as to be impervious to the attractiom her system bestows. Yielding to a largely expressed desire, Mme, Duroy has consented to include the British Isles in her sphere of activity, and this en- couraging announcement should be all sufficient to deluge her with shoals of correspondence \" E. B. D„\" which, being translated, means \" Exuber It- -t De- veloper\"—this is the name by which her celebrated svstem is known, and the most gratifying of all features consists in the fact that uo prohibitive fee is asked for it. The world wide development of the sex Is Mme. Duroy^s outstanding principle, and whether you are a duchess or a dressmaker, a society woman or otherwise, the undeniable benefits of this magnificent bust-

38 THE STRAND MAGAZINE. RUPTURE. STARTLING RESULTS. THOUSANDS ALREADY CURED. NO FURTHER USE FOR TRUSSES. The remarkable success of the W. S. Rice Method for curing rupture is astonishing not only the lay, but also the medical worlds. Thousands of people have already been completely cured by it and are now going about as well as ever they were, unencumbered by irritating and pain-giving trusses. Case after case: which doctors had given up as hopeless, has been cured by it, and the value of this discovery to sufferers from rupture it is impossible to over-estimate. Some idea of the marvellous amount of good it is doing can be obtained by the inspection of the enormous sheaf of letters which daily pour into the laboratory. It is pathetic to read the expressions of gratitude from persons of all ranks and circumstances in life, of both sexes, addressed to the discoverer of this wonderful system by the people who have been cured by it. Copies of some of these letters will be sent to genuine inquirers who really wish lo cure a rupture, or who have relatives or friends for whom they would like to obtain the benefits of a Free Test Treatment, so that the absolute reliability of the claims made for the Treatment can be proved beyond the least shadow of doubt. It does not matter how bad your rupture may be, do not be a truss slave for the rest of your life. All readers of this magazine can obtain full particulars of this remarkable discovery, how it is applied, and how it cures, without interfering in any way with the daily occupation or pursuits of the patient, and a Free Test Treatment, simply by writing for them. The complications likely to arise from a neglected rupture are too well known to need comment, but nothing should, on any account, prevent every sufferer from taking advantage of this generous offer. The usual practice of simply having a truss fitted, and wearing it until death, has been revolutionised by this discovery, and a complete cure can now be looked forward to with confidence by all seeking one. 46 THE STRAND MAGAZINE. THE BABY DAISY' VACUUM CLEANER is a wonderful machine to cost only Two Guineas. People who know good value are flocking to buy it, and unscru- pulous dealers who do not stock this little marvel, and think more of their own profit than of your satisfaction, are now trying to per- suade intending buyers that they have something \"just as good\" to sell. There is nothing so eood as the ' DAISY' at anywhere near the price. IT Sl'CKS EVERY ATOM OF DUST FROM C A R V ETS. U IT i O LST K RY, FURNITURE, AND HOOKS E AS I LY & E F F ECTIV E LY. Where is the use of \"cleaning- up\" in the senseless old way ? Sweeping and dusting, for the most part, either shakes up the dust or drives it further into the material. It does more than that, however, as many a sick headache testifies. Dust and germs lodge in the lungs, the eyes smart, the hair needs covering if it is not to be \" plastered \" with dust and fluff. And the temper suffers. So do the carpets, the curtains, the upholstery. Do you call that a cheap method of doing things—dust, disturbance, bad temper, and illness ? The ' Daisy' saves it all, and you need not remove a carpet or yourself in the least. For small households the Two Guinea Baby ' Daisy ' is quite sufficient.
