Clearly, I haven’t won the geneticair without going past parallel in his lottery and I don’t have a lot of leveragebackswing. Despite not being in or muscle to help me pound the ballgreat physical condition, and having down the fairway. Despite thoselimitations from his lack of height, limitations, however, I have been ableweight, and strength, and flexibility, to maximize my efficiency and discoverChase can still produce club speed and some tricks to drive the ball over 300 yards (easily) down the fairway. Here is some proof of a recent drive that I hit over 300 yards.12 GOLF GUIDE DIRECTORY SPRING/SUMMER 2017

So, here are my 3 keys:1LOFT DOWN- It is extremely important to reduce spin rate to gain maximum distance off the tee. So, I always need to play with a low lofted driver. Over the years, my driver has typically been between 6 and 8 degrees of loft.Note, the world long drive champions generally play with 5-7 degrees of loft.2 HEAD BACK- As I come into impact I am driving my hips forward (towards the target) while my head and upper body stretch back (away from target). my head relative to the red line. 13SPRING/SUMMER 2017 GOLF GUIDE DIRECTORY

3 SWING UP- I must hit the ball on the upswing or in other words, with a positive attack angle. Many amateur golfers make the mistake of hitting their drives on the downswing, however, the world’s most powerful driversof the ball all hit their drives with a considerable upward attack angle. Here, yousee that I am hitting this ball 9.0 degrees on the upswing!! [John, here you cantake a screen shot and perhaps highlight the Attack Angle data point box fromthe Trackman voiceover. Use your judgement] For more evidence, consider thefact that 2 of the most efficient long bombers on the PGA Tour, Rory McElroyand Justin Thomas, also hit their drives with an upward attack angle. Of course,I must hit the ball near the center of the clubface as well but most peoplealready understand that part. So, next time you go to the range rememberthese 3 simple steps: 1 Turn your driver loft all the way down, 2 Drive your hipsforward as you stretch your head and upper body away from the target cominginto impact, 3 Release the club hard and fast with your hands to hit the ball onthe upswing.Oh yeah, step 4.... I nearly forgot, develop an idea bank of ways that you cantalk smack to your golfing buddies as you find your ball 30 yards past theirs. THE LEXITHOMPSONRULE Story by: LES BAILEY Staff Writer Golf Guide DirectoryIhave always thought it was kind of cool that a golf fan watching a professional tournament from the comfort of his “Man Cave” on a 60” high definition television could phone in and affect the outcome of that tournament. After all, what other sport on the major championship of the year on theplanet will accept a phone call from a LPGA Tour.fan, even a day later, that could changethe outcome of that game’s final score. The same should be the case for rules on the golf course and all sporting events. We have seen over the past few years where the use of high-def video feeds have, or nearly changed the outcome of major championships. Dustin Johnson was penalized at the 2016 U.S. Open when after a group of officials analyzed a video for an hour to determine if his ball moved on the fifth green. DJ and his competitors played several holes not knowing if he was going to be penalized or not while they scrutinized the video. No one, including Dustin Johnson could tell if the ball moved or not, and even if it did, no advantage was gained, so why did the USGA make such a big deal over the incident. Maybe New Decision 34-3/10 will address these issues and prevent what happened to Lexi Thompson at Mission Hills from happening to another player on another tour in the future. Thank goodness there is no television coverage for the Club Championships…..LOL17SPRING/SUMMER 2017 GOLF GUIDE DIRECTORY
