Trinity School Education for life in all its fullness

Trinity School

Welcome from the headmasterThank you for taking the time to read about Trinity, a state-funded Christiansecondary school which opened in 2013.We place high importance on the Christian ethos of the school: it provides amoral framework by which we fulfil our vision of providing an education forour students in the fullest sense so they can look to the future with optimismand confidence. Aligned with this, we recognise that every moment, whetherit be in or outside the classroom, holds the potential to be an opportunity forlearning and growth. We are absolutely committed to ensuring that every student, whatever theirfaith orientation, is given the opportunity to reach their full potential.Weencourage and support students towards academic excellence but we areequally determined that our students develop and grow spiritually, sociallyand emotionally. Put simply, we strive to provide a holistic educationalexperience for our students. We are oversubscribed and only recently occupied a state-of-the-art building, which boasts an array of outstanding facilities. Please do visit our website for more information or better still, visit us inperson.Matthew PawsonHeadmaster

Our ETHOs – the triNity WayEveryone at Trinity is expected to know and live by ‘the Trinity Way’.It has five key elements:• truth which includes integrity, honesty and openness• excellence in everything including academic work, artsand sport• love exemplified in quality relationships, nurture, and ‘tough’love that expects the best• leadership taking responsibility for myself and others andleading my own learning• service serving each other and our wider community. All pupils and staff are trained in ‘restorative Justice’ –a Christian-based approach to maintaining harmoniousrelationships and rebuilding trust when problems arise.

iN the classroomOur brand new building has state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and learning. Theclassrooms are fully equipped for specialist subjects including science, Design Technology,Food Technology, Music and Art. We have outstanding PE facilities including a four-courtsports Hall. We also have a very flexible and well-equipped performance space forDance and Drama. Our teaching and learning are based on the National Curriculum, with:• Excellent teaching: pupils learn in a challenging but supportive environment where each student is known, and is enabled to maximise their potential.• Emphasis on Maths and English: extra time for these core subjects in Key stage 3.• Flexible pathways to GCSE and A-level: all students are enabled to succeed with individualised support throughout their school career.• High expectations: we set targets in line with the highest performing schools nationally, and help students to meet them.• Provision for Special Educational Needs: wherever special or additional needs are identified, our individual support packages help every student to access the curriculum and make excellent progress.• The latest ICT: we have invested in cutting edge Information and Computing Technology, including iPADs, which accelerates and enriches learning.• Supported homework, through a daily homework club and ICT which is geared to support work at home. As a result, our goal is that all our students should study academic subjects in the 6th Form and that many should progress on to the very best universities in the uK.

Beyond the ClassroomAt Trinity we steadfastly believe that learning is not limited to the classroom.Weunderstand the importance of co-curricular activities and how they can helpstudents develop a range of important attributes such as teamwork, leadership, problem solving, confidence and resilience. We encourage our students to immerse themselves in the wide range of clubs andactivities that are on offer so that they learn and develop a range of skills andcultivate an active and varied lifestyle that they continue to lead beyond Trinity.Sport: Trinity believes in providing a broad and balanced curriculum of sportingactivities that actively encourages participation. We also believe in the importanceof competitive sport and how these create opportunities for students to excel andlead.Music and the creative and performing arts are a key priority for theschool. All students have the opportunity to take instrumental or vocal lessonsdelivered by specialist staff, join ensembles and choirs, and express their creativityin art, design and drama. We are convinced that music and the arts enrich ourstudents’ lives.Community Service: We encourage all our students to experience thetransforming effect of being generous and using their time and talents to improvethe lives of others. There are many opportunities for students to serve otherswithin and outside of school. After School Clubs: A range of clubs are on offer to students, details of whichcan be found on our website.Local, national and international school trips and business links are akey and growing part of the educational experience at Trinity school. They make amajor contribution to the acquisition of knowledge whilst also playing a key role inincreasing motivation and personal development.

NurturiNg our studeNtsAt Trinity, we nurture our students by caring for them and challenging them to aimhigh. The key elements of the pastoral care system are:• Tutor Groups. These are led by a teacher who mentors and encourages each child to make excellent academic progress and supports their pastoral needs.• Christian Ethos. Worship and reflection play a key part in assemblies and form time. At Trinity, students learn values which help them to care for each other, and become active, socially-aware, engaged citizens.• Pastoral Team. Dedicated staff provide a wide range of individual and small group support in a range of settings, which helps students to develop and thrive. We are an aspirational school which wants students to meet and exceed bothour and their own high expectations. specifically:• All members of the school, both students and teachers, are leaders of learning. We place a high emphasis on staff development to ensure that our teaching and learning is of the highest quality.• Our rewards system encourages students to work hard and achieve excellence in all that they do.• All students begin to experience and think about the range of possibilities that are available when they leave Trinity. We recognise the individuality of each student and appreciate that future pathways between students may look different. However, we believe that all students should have high aspirations, which should influence the journey and direction they take, supported by the school.
