HAPPIER CARE EMPLOYEES HANDBOOK Waxing is part of the professional service, if a customer asks for waxing then you are to inform your coordinator since this is not part of the Happier Care service. Some higher demand services for customers may include ● Customers with limited body movement will need extra aid during showering and sponging in areas where they can no longer reach. ● Manual evacuation of the bowel. ● Transfer of the customer on mechanical assistance machines. ● Aiding the customer to stand or sit if they are no longer capable of handling their weight. Complex Care Services The services certain customers require due to possible disabilities, age factor or medical conditions often go through complex care services. These are high intensity leveled care units which are specially designed for customers which can no longer spend the day by themselves Staff members require proper skill sets and knowledge in procedures which have been designed by the National Disability Scheme. These services include ● Intensive bowel care ● Aid in ventilation ● Managing diabetes ● Feeding management ● Complex wound management ● Tracheostomy aid ● Assistance in injections Domestic Aid These are the services which are included within the household. It will depend on the customer if you will be working with them or by yourself during the tasks. ● Domestic aid includes; ● Cleaning kitchens (dishes, utensils and mopping the floor) ● Doing the laundry which includes washing, drying and hanging the clothes Page 48 of 63

HAPPIER CARE EMPLOYEES HANDBOOK ● Cleaning bathrooms which includes sweeping floors, shower heads and floors, toilets and sinks. ● Take out the garbage and recycling as well. ● Making beds and folding laundry. ● Dusting the household thoroughly. The customer often has different ways they want their houses dusted such as using different clothes. ● Tidying up the house such as fixing pillows and arranging furniture and more of the sort. Domestic aid however does not include; ● Moving heavy furniture ● Heavy duty cleaning or scrubbing ● Tasks which require you to go to an elevated height. ● Gardening work ● Repairing objects or general handyman work All the equipment which will be used by the employee for cleaning will be provided by the customer. Before using the products you will also have to check if they are approved for use. The products must be used in the proper manner in accordance with procedure. You are to contact your coordinator if you have been given a product which is not approved. Bowel Aid ● These tasks are to be performed by professionally trained members only ● Registered nurses are only allowed to perform manual evacuation ● Administering enemas ● Stoma care ● Administering suppositories Mobility Assistance Aiding the customer with their mobility may include ● Use of equipment to aid in mobility ● Moving to and from baths, vehicles, beds or showers. ● Movement on the bed Page 49 of 63

HAPPIER CARE EMPLOYEES HANDBOOK Aid In Skin Care ● Application of creams ● First aid on the basic level ● Feet Care ● These tasks can only be done by qualified individuals ● Wound Care ● Pharmaceutical and clinical treatment of the wounds which can only be done by trained individuals ● Managing Wounds Managing the wound is a task which is performed by a qualified nursing specialist. Staff members who are aware of basic first aid which is in accordance with their training. If you come across a new wound then you are to contact your coordinator. Transportation These are the services where the staff members travel out and about with the customer to wherever the desires such as shopping or groceries. These services are also available at numerous and various types of events as well, the services include; ● Birthdays ● Shopping ● Appointments ● Meetups ● Errands ● Sporting events Medical Aid There are times when a person is no longer capable of taking their medication all by themselves that is why Happier Care also provides this service. HAPPIER CARE EMPLOYEES HANDBOOK There is a proper procedure which is to be applied when aiding in medication which is to be strictly followed. If you have any questions or concerns then you are to inform your coordinator. Staff members who have the qualifications will aid the customers with their medicine administration including those which have been dispensed by a pharmacist. You are allowed to ● Remind the customer when it is time to take their medication ● Assisting the customer with identifying the day and date timing of the dosage from the blister pack ● Aiding the customer with taking their medication by dispensing it in to their cup, hand or container if needed ● Make sure the blister pack has not been tampered with and check if the day and date is correct. ● Communicate with the customer and ask if anything is worrying them. Inform your coordinator if any abnormality was noticed in the medication or blister pack of any sort. Quite often the customer will have a medical chart which is to be filled and completed. If you are not aware of this then you are to inform your coordinator. If the medication has been dispensed into a stock container which was prescribed then you are not to aid the customer. This medication is to be administered by a family member or the customer themselves. Administering Medication by Registered Nurses Registered nurses and EN’s who have not received a notation on their registration are allowed to administer medication to the customer if it has been dispensed by the pharmacists or the customers own medication. The registered nurses and EN’s are to work within the boundaries of their training and be well aware of the medications which are to be used. There is a procedure which is to be followed by the nurses while they are administering the medication, this includes; Page 51 of 63

HAPPIER CARE EMPLOYEES HANDBOOK ● The right method which states that the right medication must be administered to the right individual in the right amount of dosage during the right time. ● Medication which will be administered needs to be documented. ● Medication which has been prescribed by an authorized practitioner is to be used. Schedule 8 Medications Registered nurses are only allowed to administer schedule 8 medications if in any case it is prescribed according to the procedure and the legislative policy. These are drugs which have the potential of becoming addictive such as morphine. For more information you may look at the Happier Care procedure form. Food Consumption Nutrition is an important aspect of one’s health. Happier Care provides services for aid in meal preparations as well along with support to the customer such as; ● Assistance is buying and packing food ● Helping to put the groceries away ● Making a shopping list with the customer ● Physical support to aid the customer to eat and drink. Recuperation Happier Care understands how hard our caretakers work to make the lives of our customers easier and for this reason we give our employees time to respite and regain their energy on a regular of as-needed basis if required. This can be given either inside their homes or if needed, out in the community. This helps everyone get a break and freshen up from their usual hectic routine. This includes; ● Domestic aid ● Assistance in shopping ● Interacting with members of the community ● Personal aid ● Assistance in meals Page 52 of 63

HAPPIER CARE EMPLOYEES HANDBOOK Aid For Dementia Dementia is a general term for loss of memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking abilities that are severe enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia. Most individuals who have dementia are elderly people but can also affect people in their 30’s and so on. Our support for patients who have dementia include; ● General grooming ● Assistance in showering and dressing ● Aiding in meal preparations ● Shopping ● Running errands ● Support in leisure activities Each individual is affected differently to dementia but most people generally are incapable of doing their everyday tasks independently. Those who have dementia show a change in behavior as at times they perform tasks which have no meaning whatsoever. How To Communicate It is not easy having to communicate with those who have dementia since the individuals either do not like communicating, have difficulty getting their point across, not being able to put their words together properly or generally cannot speak fluently anymore. Take into consideration; ● Be patient since communicating with such individuals could take some time. ● Be kind since the patient still has their emotions completely intact ● No, do not make any derogatory remarks, be aggressive or use foul language at all. ● Keep your sentence structures completely simple ● Stay away from loud environments Page 53 of 63

HAPPIER CARE EMPLOYEES HANDBOOK Eating Habits Individuals who have dementia often forget to take their meals or cannot prepare them themselves and for this you will have to monitor their eating habits in ways such as; ● Track when the patient is eating and be sure to offer them snacks throughout the day ● Be sure the patient is hydrated and occasionally offer drinks throughout the day ● Course should be served once a day ● The customer should be served food which he is familiar with. Palliative Care Palliative care is specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness, such as cancer or heart failure. Patients in palliative care may receive medical care for their symptoms, or palliative care, along with treatment intended to cure their serious illness. Palliative Care may include; ● Around the clock care ● Personal assistance ● Domestic aid ● Emotional assistance ● Respite for the care takers ● Medication management Palliative care is an intensive care unit which are overseen by other support services as well which will be coordinated by Happier Care. You should be aware of the palliative service such as what the service includes, who should be contacted and more. All the important details will be included in the customer’s health care plan. Disability Aid Happier Care works for the betterment of others’ lives, we understand that people with disabilities often have a hard time going about their day to day activities and for that we provide professional support to all of our customers. HAPPIER CARE EMPLOYEES HANDBOOK The customer who has the disability may choose between various services we have to offer all of which will be tailored towards the individual's own needs. There are even customers which require special care due to their disabilities for which we have strategically planned techniques. Overnight Service Happier Care also provides overnight services for their customers. The employee will be placed in a different bed or a different room, depending on the requirement and will provide monitored service or scheduled services (whichever the customer demands).
