Gandhi Jayanthi REPORT ON SAPLING PLANTATION PROGRAMME India and United Arab Emirates (UAE) enjoy strong bonds of friendship based on age-old cultural, religious and economic ties between the two nations. The founding father of UAE –Late H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and India’s Father of the nation – Mahatma Gandhi both preached and practiced non-violence and peace in during their lifetime. To mark the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 100 years of Late H.H Sheikh Zayed on 2nd October 2018, Indian School, Dubai organized a programme to plant 250 Academy, Ajman, ve students along with PE department head attended the event and planted the saplings. The Indian School, Dubai gave a warm welcome to all the participants, after the planting of the sapling, assembly was conducted in the school auditorium, after which a documentary about the life of Late H. H Sheikh Zayed and Mahatma Gandhi were presented and later refreshments were provided for everyone before concluding the event. All in all we students had an interesting and enlightening day. We thank our school for giving us the opportunity to be the part of this amazing event. We are looking forward to more of such opportunities. Gawtham Grade VIII BVIBES 01

Gandhi Jayanthi “Peace is the most powerful weapon of mankind. It takes more courage to take a blow than to give one” - Mahatma GandhiGandhi Jayanti was celebrated on 2nd October at Bhavans Wise Indian Academy, Ajman. Specialassembly was organized by Grade IV B. It began with the school prayer, one of the student wasdressed up as Gandhiji. The other students shared the anecdotes from Gandhiji’s life. The highlightof the event was the Hindi speech about the Gandhi and Swachh Bharat, which left the audiencespell bound. Through various presentation students stressed on the value of‘Speak No Evil’, ‘Hear NoEvil’, and ‘See No Evil’. Students sang Bapu’s favourite devotional song, “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram”.Later a Quiz competition was conducted on the life of Mahatma Gandhi.The event was concluded with an inspiring talk by the Principal. Lecture Demonstration Of Kuchipudi Dance सािह�स�ीतकलािवहीनः सा�ा�शुः पु�िवषाणहीनः । तृणं न खाद�िप जीवमान��ागधेयं परमं पशूनाम् ॥ Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan had its foundation laid on with the motto of preserving the Bhartiya Sanskri- ti. Over the last four decades, the name Bhavans, has become synonymous to tradition and culture. Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Ajman in an endeavour to celebrate our rich culture and tradition orga- nized a lecture-cum-demonstration of the classical dance form Kuchipudi by Kalamadalam Ms. Deepa S. Kumar, Faculty of Dance, Bhavans Wise Indian Academy, Ajman. The evening had students, parents, teachers, members of the management and other invited guest all awaiting an engagement with dance and tradition. The cultural initiative was inaugurated in true Indian tradition by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Kalamadalam Ms. Deepa S. Kumar was then requested to begin her session. The artiste began her lecture with informing the audience about Kuchipudi, its meaning and its origin; the repertoire, the pioneers and stalwarts of the dance form and its contemporary interpretations. She enthralled the audience with lucid explanation of adarus, mudras and their meanings, followed by the demonstration Deepaji developed her LEC- DEM on tharangam. The theme of the tharangam was the conversation between Krishna and Sudama. During the performance she brought out the essence of Kuchipudi, the dynamic transformation of a dancer into di erent characters and emo- tions. The LEC- DEM was followed by an interactive session with the audience. The evening ended with a talk by the Principal who expressed her happiness in being given this unique opportunity and asked her students to bene t the most from this rare chance. She thanked the artiste, the distinguished guests, the parents and her dear students for gracing and participating in the programme. Interhouse Foot ball MatchA REPORT ON FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2018-2019.On 8th October 2018 School PE department had organized an Inter- House Football tournament for grades 5 toand harmony among the students in the school.The occasion was graced by the Principal, Vice Principal, Academic Coordinator, PE dept head Mr. Kiran Ramach-Hawks, Eagles and Flacons). Principal addressed and exchanged shake hands with all the teams and inspiredHawks in the tournament. The winning teams were awarded trophies by the school Principal during commonassembly.Later it was announced by the PE DEPT that grace points of 10 points for the Winning teams, 5 points for theRunners up, 2 points each participants respectively will be awarded to the houses. And these points will beadded to the upcoming annual athletic meet.The day was amazing, and wonderful experience for the students. The teachers, Captains, students, from all thegrades cheered up the players with great enthusiasm. Teacher’s commentary inspired the tournament withloudly.04 VIBES

D.E.A.R programme FOR THE LOVE OF READING “If you are to get anywhere in life, you have to read a lot of books.\" - Roald Dahl The School initiated the School Reading Programme -\" FoB \" ( Fellowship of Books), with its rst event- D.E.A.R (Drop Everything And Read) on Sunday, 21st October 2018. The whole school comprising teaching and non-teaching sta read right through the morning assembly. What an exquisite moment it was when all stop, drop their tools and just read! The School has developed this reading programme, FoB as an initiative to instill good reading habits among children, a trend which seems to be on a decline this past decade. Teachers have observed that many students lack the ability of sustained reading and we have the mandate of helping them to be able to do so. The programme is also in collaboration with the country's own National Law of Reading. The D.E.A.R assembly replaced the usual morning assembly routine. Students and teachers along with all the other members of sta came to school and went straight to the assembly area, each holding a book in his/ her hand. They read silently for a good ten minutes of the morning. From the Principal to the Janitor all dropped everything and read. The assembly also took a pledge of \"reading good books every day\" which was administered by the school librarian, the keeper of books. Bhavans Fest 2018 Finals a grand vista.................... BHAVANS FEST 2018-19 gave a new definition to all performances...... Final events such as Bharatanatyam, Folk dance, Mono act and Solo song for Cat – 3 and 4 were conducted ostentatiously on 25th October 2018 at school auditorium by 9.30 am in the presence of teachers and students. Programme began with UAE national anthem followed by Quran recitation, Bhavans anthem, and a welcome speech by Bhavans fest coordinator Mr. Roy Francis. As a prepara- tion di erent duties were clearly mentioned and sorted out among teaching, non-teaching sta s and students. Judges specialised in respective events were assigned accordingly. A detailed plan regarding the programme was created and distributed among the organisers for the smooth conduct. The day was a great experience in the life of students. The students, teachers, non-teaching sta s from all the grades devotedly cheered up the participants. Performances were in its zenith and students performed remarkably on the well arranged stage. A surprise song performance was done for the students by one of the teacher, a good singer from school’s K G Section Ms.Terricita. Events were concluded with Indian national Anthem and laudatory speech by academic co ordina- tor Ms. Megha Victor were she mentioned each one especially for their contributions for the programme. Clinic report on hand foot and mouth diseases It's most common in spring and autumn but the most spread is in autumn with schools opening. The disease has a high contagious rate because symptoms do not show immediately; they need ve to eight days after the initial exposure. Children will carry the virus for many weeks after they have recovered and so can continue to pass the virus to other people. The viruses that usually cause hand-foot-and-mouth are called coxsackievirus a16 and enterovirus 71.Usually, it’s self-limiting not serious but, needs 7 to 10 days to clear from the body. Its incubation period is mostly three to six days before symptoms appear, and that is why it spreads fast in schools. Symptoms A child initially becomes irritable, with a sore throat and loss of appetite. Day’s later fever and small red spots can be seen inside the mouth that may turn into blisters. A skin rash afterwards starts to appear as red blisters on the palm, feet and buttocks. Treatment There is no immediate medicine or therapy “only symptoms are treated\". The infected child can be given fever-lowering medicine and lots of uids and rest. Also cold treats like yoghurt to minimize the pain from the blisters in the mouth and anti-itch lotions to help with the rashes. Most important is to keep the child hydrated with plenty of water. Preventing the spread of disease Wash hands with soap and water after using the toilet, changing diapers and after coming in contact with infected child's body uids.08 VIBES

ASSET It is time for your subject knowledge to be tested internationally. The school has enrolled students of Grade III to VIII for the ASSET exam (Assessment for Scholastic Skills through Testing) this year as well for testing their core competencies in Mathematics, Science and English. The test checks the students' application level competency, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The exam is scheduled in the early months of January/ February of 2019. PERIODIC TEST -2 Periodic test – 2 for Grades V to VIII for Academic year 2018-19 will start on 11th November 2018 for the core subjects. The Computer Science and Arabic assessment , PT-2 exam, will be conducted on 4th and 5th November 2018 respectively.VIBES 09
