Offering full rain and wind protection with superior protection against dust ingress, the Hardlid is conveniently versatile, meaning it’s not just designed for keeping your gear safe. 77

Hardworking Hinge ARB Hardlid 78 The clever hinge system incorporated into the Hardlid opens the lid rearward and upward, away from the cabin, allowing ample clearance. This means that customers can choose to run their Hardlid with or without a factory sports bar. It also allows for mounting hardware closer to the cab because as items lift, they pivot away from the cabin, eliminating the need for dead space between the rear window and mounted items. The Hardlid is opened by a key lockable manual latch lever activating two clamp points and ensuring ultimate security for your cargo. Clever Customisation The ARB Hardlid is a perfect blank canvas to customise however you like, whether that be mounting custom tool boxes or utilising our clever premium rails. These rails utilise both a T-slot channel and ARB’s signature BASE Rack dovetail mounting system. This allows a mounting location for a selection of BASE Rack accessories and mounting surfaces for crossbars or even a BASE Rack. In turn, crossbars or the BASE Rack provide perfect mounting for bulky items, such as bikes, a rooftop tent or rapid access items such as TRED boards, a hi-lift jack or shovel. Premium Upgrade The ARB Hardlid can be purchased on its own or with a number of upgrades to retrofit and customise to your requirements. Alternatively, these premium upgrades can be purchased in our Premium Hardlid offering. These premium features include central locking, interior light and a set of premium rails.

ARB Hardlid Two People, Two Minutes It’s a bold claim but our engineers stand by their statement: the ARB Hardlid can be removed by two people in two minutes. Simply by undoing a couple of wingnuts and then just lifting the lid back and up, you can have it off, perfect for unexpected access requirements (like your mate asking you last minute to help him pick up a Facebook Marketplace fridge on a Friday night). It’s a very good environment and they are of their car and what they are going to be able to do with everyone is very good to work with. I enjoy this work very much it. It’s great. The thing I’m most proud of at ARB is the family origins; because you have the ability to learn a lot of different skills. If you a few brothers started in 1975, they wanted to do a Cape York trip don’t want to do what you are doing and you talk to your boss, he and get parts on their car that were going to be safe, secure and can put you in a different department to learn different stuff, that’s reliable so they built it themselves and this is where we are now. why I like this company.” It’s fantastic that we’re helping everyone else do the same trip, successfully and safely.” Kelvin Lowry 4x4 Technician - Warranty “What I like most about ARB is working on all the cars that come in completely stock and then they leave looking amazing. There’s no better feeling than seeing someone’s car transform. This job is definitely where I want to be for a long time. ARB puts out the best products in the 4WD business. They’re a really friendly company, they always put their employees first and do what they can for anyone who joins in.” Scan the QR code to check out the current vacancies at ARB Australia wide. ARB is rewarding to work for, you work your way up and there are so many different things, you’re not stuck in the one spot doing the same thing like a typical factory job. In this place, from my point of view, there is flexibility within the department that I’m in and I like being able to rotate around to different roles and fill the gaps as needed.”

CCSHAHEWACIKN- WORDS BY NO FIXED ADDRESS Some will say you are not really camping if you don’t have a campfire. I have to admit there is nothing like sitting around a flickering fire at night- time in the Aussie bush; it honestly doesn’t get any better. But to have a campfire, you need to collect firewood. There are all sorts of axes and handsaw options out there but nothing as effective as a chainsaw. Chainsaws also come in handy for assisting in track maintenance, clearing and even recovery situations. There are commonly two types of chainsaws used out in the bush: petrol and battery powered. Petrol chainsaws are what most people would be familiar with but I have more recently started using a battery chainsaw. It was given to me as a gift and I was sceptical about it, to be honest, having always carried a petrol chainsaw. I decided to take it on a recent camping trip to Arnhem Land and was very surprised by how well it performed. We used it for clearing tracks and collecting firewood for over a week and didn’t need to charge it. There were no fumes in the canopy or extra petrol to take, no obnoxious noise at camp and it cut small- to medium-sized logs with ease. 82

SEMA Trade Show THE GOLDEN TICKET The SEMA Show has historically only been open to members of the automotive industry and is often looked at with a mixture of excitement and dread each year. Excitement as vendors, buyers and media are all electrified to reveal and see what’s new. Dread as vendors work like crazy the weeks prior to finalise their new products before the show. Everyone goes home from a week in Vegas exhausted from seeing so much cool new stuff and getting caught up with new and old friends and acquaintances from the industry. It can feel like an exhausting vacation at times, but worth it. If you like cars, trucks or anything automotive and you ever get a chance to attend SEMA, grab that golden ticket (in reality a badge on a lanyard), head to Las Vegas the first week of November and go check it out. You won’t be disappointed. 91

International Travel Cruising Botswana Words & Photography by Patrick Cruywagen 92

International Travel Tourists come to Africa to experience the wildlife and, if visiting the southern bit, it certainly does not get much better than Botswana, especially if in a half decent 4x4. I once drowned a standard brand new VW Touareg in Botswana’s world-famous Okavango Delta swamps. I was trying to follow my guide, who was in a LandCruiser.
