THE OFFICIAL STUDENT PUBLICATION OF DE LA SALLE LIPA VOLUME 1 | NO. 2 SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
Editor's Note As digital natives, becoming at ease with the current era of technology seems to be not a Rocket Science. With such easy human interface applications, a native of digital age can access without question about the how’s and why’s. A tap of the cell could direct you to a link or two taps of it could either bring you to multitasking or even zooming. Literally, with just a snap of a finger in nanoseconds, everything is served to you like an eat-all-you-can buffet. No wonder, different institutions are shaping this nativity into their own mold, take De La Salle Lipa, for example. With the Digital Campus this school has been pronouncing for months, there is truly no doubt how the administration took big steps just to make this place a bona fide one. These measures surely made an impact in the students’ lives starting from legalizing the usage of one’s device for school purposes to a much needed wireless internet connection installation in different strategic places in the campus. Thus, in this year’s issue, the Crescit Publication proudly presents the different faces and phases of today’s digital citizens who will get the most laurels in one of the biggest leaps of the institution’s coming into age. Together, let’s pinch that picture outward and view what’s inside the microchip of this digitally-inspired issue. Veronica Lorraine Medrano Editor-in-Chief
ABOUT THE COVER Every day as we wake up, we always hope for better days. As we head towards our classrooms, we continue to expect something new: class suspension announcements, abrupt student assemblies, cancelled quizzes, and even shortened class periods. We always wish for something that would benefit us; we yearn for change, because we crave for progress. Innovation voices out progress. In our energies of voicing out our yearning for progress, the senior high school community takes action to innovate. Innovation starts in the small spaces allotted to us for learning – our classrooms – and does not end, even if we empty the hallways and bid goodbye to our dearest professors. Classrooms aren’t only starting points for innovation; it is a powerhouse in which progress is obtained even by sitting only on wooden chairs and facing boards, or our laptop and cellphone screens all day. The road to our progress starts with using technology’s prowess as a learning tool. As we say our final prayers before closing the classroom doors, we know within ourselves that today there is progress; today something new had come. This pertains to changes enclosed within senior high-occupied buildings, reached by routers that do not only call for internet connection – but our connection to the world. Literary 19 I Am a Choice I Will Make For Myself by Alaina Dalangin For the first time in a long time, I will choose me. I will choose me despite what I can’t do, And I will choose me despite the problems I have still yet to go through. I will choose me over the wrong decisions I have made, And I will choose me over the feelings that I still have yet to fade. I will choose me even if I’m a broken mess, And I will choose me even if being emotionally and mentally unstable is what I have to confess. I will choose me along with the nightmares of my past, And I will choose me along with all the ugly memories of stories that didn’t last. In a society where labels are what keep things going, And culture where stereotyping is all that people are knowing, And in a world where people point out all your wrongdoing, It would still be me that I would be choosing. I will choose me for the belief that there is peace in my violence, that there is beauty in the noise behind my silence, I will choose me in the faith that there is warmth in my numbness And that there is still strength in my times weakness. So, here’s to all whose believed that they’re not worthy, And here’s to those who are just being themselves but are sorry. Here’s to all who are still fighting to mend And here’s to all those who thought their stories must end. I will make a choice and this time it is for me, And through this, I hope you’d get to realize and see That it’s okay to be flawed, unfixed and sore Because despite all that, we still are and could be so much more.
